Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian takes a break from work so Olympia and Adira will never hate him

For Alexis Ohanian, Sundays have transformed from lazy mornings of television and video games into cherished family rituals built on love and creativity.

His commitment to making every moment count with his daughters, Olympia and Adira, has created a tradition that is both wholesome and unforgettable.

Serena Williams’ sweet moment with her mom gets hilariously interrupted by Alexis Ohanian

Inspired by his own childhood memories of Sunday pancakes made by his father, Ohanian has continued the ritual with his children, but with a unique twist.

As he shared on X, “Growing up is being the 41-year-old making Sunday breakfast at 7am, feeding your kids, playing with them, cleaning up-all while your retired dad + step mom are still ‘waking up’ to come over. What a life! “

Family rituals built on pancakes and play

Unlike the simple pancake breakfasts of his childhood, the tradition has evolved into a playful art project under Olympia‘s leadership. Now known as the “head pancake chef,” the little girl insists on turning every breakfast into a creative experience with squeeze bottles and playful designs. It’s a tradition Ohanian believes will help shape her future expectations and appreciation for family.

Speaking to People, Ohanian reminisced, “Growing up, my dad would make pancakes every Sunday. They were delicious, but it wasn’t just about the food. It was about being together.” Today, he carries on that tradition with Olympia and Adira, fostering moments that are phone-free and filled with laughter, conversation, and playtime.

“There are no phones, just conversation. And we’ll spend the day together lounging around the house, or playing hide-and-seek, or going for a swim in the pool,” Ohanian explained. “Just being a family on those days means so much to both of us.”

And while pancakes are a highlight of their Sundays, they are far from the only bonding activity. Olympia, who has taken a liking to sports much like her mother, Serena Williams, is already showing promise on the golf course. Ohanian‘s role as “daddy caddy” on the weekends has become another cherished part of their routine.

Balancing fatherhood and entrepreneurship

Despite his immense success with Reddit and his other business ventures, Ohanian has always prioritized family. His decision to take 16 weeks of paternity leave when Olympia was born set an example for working fathers everywhere. In a recent Instagram reel, he spoke about the importance of setting boundaries between work and family.

“When I was younger, I used to work from home, it was tough to mentally get the separation felt like never ended,” he admitted. “So I technically built an office for myself close to my home so that I can get enough space that I could leave and feel like I was going in to work but it’s literally next door. The crucial thing is making sure you’ve got focused time.”

For Ohanian, the key to managing both worlds lies in creating a clear divide between his professional and personal life.

“My promise to my family is, when I’m on the clock between 8 and 6 p.m, unless it’s an emergency, don’t expect to hear from me. Because I am all in on work. Board meetings, meetings with my team at Seven Seven Six-I need that ability to lock in,” he explained.

But once the workday ends, his focus shifts entirely to family.

Whether it’s playing golf with Olympia or making Sunday breakfast for his girls, Ohanian‘s dedication to fatherhood is clear.

His commitment to creating joyful memories for his children ensures they will always feel loved and supported, no matter how busy his professional life gets.
