Sunil Gavaskar drops a massive bombshell on Gautam Gambhir and BCCI, Check out the reason

The BCCI has announced a cash prize of Rs 58 crore for the players who won the Champions Trophy, with each player and head coach Gautam Gambhir getting Rs 3 crore. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said that the assistant coaches and support staff will receive Rs 50 lakh each, while BCCI officials will get Rs 25 lakh each.

Sunil Gavaskar, the legendary India captain, wondered if Gambhir would follow in the footsteps of his predecessor, Rahul Dravid, who shared his prize with the coaching staff. After India won the T20 World Cup in 2024, Dravid chose to split the prize money equally with his team. So far, Gambhir hasn’t said anything about his plans.

In his column for Sportstar, Gavaskar noted, “It’s been two weeks since the BCCI announced the Champions Trophy rewards, and we still haven’t heard from the current coach about whether he will do the same as Dravid. Does that mean Dravid isn’t a good role model in this case?”

Gavaskar also praised the BCCI for recognizing the team’s success in the Champions Trophy. He wrote, “After our boys won, the BCCI announced a fantastic ₹58 crore for the squad and the support staff, along with the selection committee. Last July, after winning the ICC T20 World Cup, they announced ₹125 crore for the players, support staff, and selectors.”

He added that it’s great to see the BCCI showing appreciation for everyone’s hard work and sharing the prize money from the ICC with the players as well.
