Mumbai’s head Coach drops a massive update on Jasprit Bumrah, Check out

Before the match against the Gujarat Titans on Saturday, Mumbai Indians’ head coach, Mahela Jayawardene, gave an update on Jasprit Bumrah. He mentioned that Bumrah is doing well in his recovery, but they still don’t have a specific date for his return in the ongoing IPL 2025 season. Right now, Bumrah is in Bengaluru at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence, working on rehab for a lower back injury that kept him from bowling in the fifth Test against Australia. He hasn’t played since and even missed India’s successful Champions Trophy run.

Jayawardene said, “He’s sticking to his program daily. Everything seems fine so far, but the NCA hasn’t provided any timelines, so we’ll just have to wait.” Bumrah is expected to rejoin the Mumbai squad sometime in April. In the meantime, Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar are stepping up as the pace bowlers, and they recently gave a debut to seamer Satyanarayana Raju since captain Hardik Pandya is out for one game due to a suspension from last season.

With Pandya back on the field after his suspension, Jayawardene hopes fans will move past last season’s negative reception towards him when he became captain instead of Rohit Sharma. He said, “It’s just a game of cricket. Fans have their emotions, but I believe everyone has moved on now.” He also mentioned, “It’s interesting to see the loyalty in the IPL, and I’ve appreciated that from a distance. A year later, Pandya has achieved a lot, and I’m confident people will see beyond the past. We can all enjoy a good game together.”
