    Umpire dies at 41, Brother makes a massive revelation about his health

    Bismillah Jan Shinwari, who was on the ICC International Panel of Umpires, passed away Monday night at 41.

    Shinwari, who was based in Afghanistan, had been an umpire for 34 ODIs, 26 T20Is, 31 First-Class matches, 51 List A games, and 96 domestic T20 matches, according to the Afghanistan Cricket Board. The International Cricket Council noted his start as an international umpire was in December 2017, for an ODI between Afghanistan and Ireland in Sharjah.

    His funeral occurred Tuesday in Achin district of Nangarhar province. Tolo News in Afghanistan reports he leaves behind five sons and seven daughters.

    Seyda Jan, his brother, told Tolo News that Shinwari had felt sick and went to Peshawar for surgery to remove abdominal fat. He was in the hospital for a few days. After the operation, he died at 5 PM. We brought his body back through Torkham overnight and buried him.

    ICC chairman Jay Shah expressed his sorrow, He did a lot for cricket, and the cricket community will miss him. We are very sad and send our condolences to his family.

    The Afghanistan Cricket Board also honored Shinwari, posting on X, The Afghanistan Cricket Board sends its condolences to his family, friends, and all of Afghan cricket. We pray that Allah grants him Jannah and gives strength to his loved ones during this hard time. Bismillah Jan Shinwari will always be remembered.
