The Socceroos are looking to continue their unbeaten run under Tony Popovic when they face Canada in Saturday morning’s international friendly.

Canada coach Jesse Marsch called the Australians “stingy” ahead of the game, something which Popovic took as a compliment given the team’s defensive-minded approach.
The Socceroos have not lost a game in 10 starts under Popovic, scoring 20 goals and conceding just seven — including only two in their past five games.
“(The Socceroos are) a very stingy team, very organised defensively, very aggressive (and) good on set pieces,” Marsch said.
“(It’s a team that) doesn’t give much away, (are) committed as a group to be organised, and to be aggressive, so this will not be an easy match for us.
“Even when we say ‘put on a show’, they don’t give up many goals … so we know that part of the game will be difficult.
“One of the things they have is real size and physical presence, and one of the things we have is speed and power, so I think both teams will be trying to manage things a little bit.”
The Socceroos also play the USA on Wednesday in Denver at 12pm AEDT.
