    Lions-Packers takeaways: Micah Parsons’ sack fest spoils Detroit’s Thanksgiving

    Perhaps the Detroit Lions should find a way to stop playing against the Green Bay Packers in their annual Thanksgiving game. 

    Entering this season’s game, the Lions had lost six of their past eight Thanksgiving games against the Packers (via ESPN Insights). Green Bay (8-3-1) was victorious again this year, beating Detroit 31-24. Here are five takeaways from another Turkey Day disappointment for the Lions: 

    Packers DE Micah Parsons feasted on Thanksgiving once again

    Parsons — a former Dallas Cowboys star — is used to playing on Thanksgiving. Like the Lions, the Cowboys play on the holiday each season. Once again, the four-time Pro Bowler delivered. 

    Against Detroit, Parsons logged season highs in tackles (eight) and sacks (2.5). The 26-year-old DE now has five straight Thanksgiving games with a sack, the longest such streak since sacks became official in 1982, per NFL senior researcher Tony Holzman-Escareno.
