Joburg Super Kings player Rilee Rossouw has been ruled out of the ongoing SA20 2025-26 due to injury. The CSK franchise has won three out of their four matches in the league so far, with only one game lost due to inclement weather.
The left-handed batter was able to participate in the first three matches of the season before getting injured. Duan Jansen, who was brought in as a temporary substitute for the franchise, will now have his contract extended and become a regular player for the current season.
Duan Jansen has played for the Mumbai Indians (MI) and MI Cape Town (MICT) in the SA20 league. However, he has taken five wickets in the three games played so far and is expected to be a major contributor for many more throughout the season.
Will Rilee Rossouw Be a Loss for the CSK Franchise?
If it weren’t for the injury, the Joburg Super Kings would have wished Rossouw go on playing. The franchise will definitely miss his presence in the batting order just because of his destructive capabilities. The 36-year-old was always able to make the bowlers suffer easily. He had a best score of 48 this season and would have wanted to continue for more.
Nevertheless, Faf du Plessis and the JSK management have already starting to search for the options to fill the Rossouw gap. While Duan Jansen has been offered an extension, he would not be the first player to be considered when it comes to batting at the same position as the South African.
Nevertheless, the Men in Yellow can target James Vince as a potential-like-for-like replacement. The English batter is close to 13,000 runs in T20s and has a lot of experience honing his skills. Also, Vince can open the innings, which will make it easier for Faf du Plessis and team management.
