The Cleveland Browns fired Kevin Stefanski after a dismal season. Robert Griffin III slammed the Browns’ coaching opening as the league’s least desirable job. The former quarterback didn’t hold back on why Cleveland sits at the bottom of every coaching candidate’s wish list.
The Browns dismissed Stefanski this week after managing just five wins and finishing with a 5-12 record in 2025.
Thanks for the submission!
Griffin posted a video to X to share his opinion on the Browns’ vacancy.

“The Cleveland Browns have the worst head coaching vacancy in the NFL by far, maybe even in NFL history for three reasons,” Griffin said on Thursday.

“The quarterback situation is absolutely atrocious. Deshaun Watson is coming off yet another injury. You owe him $46 million. So what are you going to do with him? Dillon Gabriel was your higher draft pick this past season. You got him sitting on the bench behind Shedeur Sanders, who most of the team wants to be the starter.”
Deshaun Watson’s contract carries massive dead money while Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders split reps. Watson hasn’t played since last October, since he tore his ACL. Stefanski collected two Coach of the Year trophies but only made the playoffs twice with the Browns.
Griffin says Andrew Berry put himself on hot seat with recent results

The analyst listed Cleveland’s front office history as his second reason. He called out how Kevin Stefanski wanted Deshaun Watson badly enough to move on from Baker Mayfield.
“Number two, it’s historically one of the most dysfunctional franchises in the league,” Griffin said. “Kevin Stefanski wanted Deshaun Watson as his quarterback, wanted him so bad he was willing to get rid of Baker Mayfield, who’s now the franchise quarterback with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
“And, number three you now have to answer to a GM in Andrew Berry who’s put himself on the hot seat. The Cleveland Browns have only won eight games in the last two years.”
Cleveland brought in Aden Durde from Seattle and Dan Pitcher from Cincinnati for conversations on Friday. The Browns also spoke with Tommy Rees and Jim Schwartz on Thursday for the coaching role vacated by Stefanski’s departure.
