Ja Morant is likely to get traded before the Feb. 5 deadline after the Memphis Grizzlies became open to parting ways with him. One of the teams linked to Morant is the Sacramento Kings. The latest trade rumors suggest that their preferred package to send back involves DeMar DeRozan.
According to Marc Stein of The Stein Line, the Kings are not actively pursuing Morant despite getting linked to them earlier this season.
Thanks for the submission!
However, the Kings’ stance could change if the Grizzlies are open to a package involving DeRozan, Devin Carter and some draft capital. With how much the Washington Wizards gave up for Trae Young, the trade market for Morant could be similar.

Morant is having one of the worst seasons of his career, and his recent history is full of suspensions, off-court drama and battling coaches. He’s still a very talented player, and a fresh start is what might be best for him.
Ja Morant has not suited up for the Memphis Grizzlies in their last five games due to a calf issue. Morant has remained professional by continuing to show up and support his teammates on the sidelines.
Jaren Jackson Jr. even lauded Morant for his continued support after being asked about the rumors surrounding his teammate after the Grizzlies beat the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday.
“(Morant) is still showing up to the games, he’s still around,” Jackson said, according to ClutchPoints. “You can understand the mood with something like (the trade rumors). Especially with someone like him, who is just viral for freaking anything. It’s just intense. I’ve always said, like, we’ve all grown up in the public eye, but it’s just intense.”
If Morant gets traded, the Grizzlies are likely to build around Jaren Jackson Jr. It will be interesting to see where the 26-year-old guard ends up at the trade deadline.
Raptors named as best fit for Ja Morant
ESPN insiders Zach Kram and Kevin Pelton named the Toronto Raptors as the best fit for Ja Morant. The trade package will involve sending Immanuel Quickley, Ochai Agbaji and a Top 14-protected first-round pick for the disgruntled Memphis Grizzlies star.
Bobby Marks added that the Raptors will have an extra year of financial freedom if they can acquire Morant. He compared it to Toronto’s trade for Brandon Ingram last season, which has already paid dividends.
The Raptors have a real shot at contending in the Eastern Conference this season. They are currently sitting fourth in the standings with a record of 23-16.
