Seattle Reign FC has signed head coach Laura Harvey to a multi-year contract extension through the 2028 National Women’s Soccer League season, the club announced Tuesday. Harvey’s previous multi-year contract ran through the 2025 season.
The club’s first-ever coach in 2013, in her second stint in Seattle, enters her 11th season with the Reign and 13th in the league overall. Harvey is the winningest coach in league history with an NWSL-record 113 regular-season wins. The three-time NWSL Coach of the Year (2014, 2015, 2021) has led the Reign to consistent success, highlighted by three NWSL Shields (2014, 2015, 2022) and three NWSL Championship appearances (2014, 2015, 2023).
“Laura sets the competitive standard for our entire program,” general manager Lesle Gallimore said in a press release. “She elevates players with intention and leads with clarity and consistency. This extension allows us to continue building with confidence, knowing we have one of the most respected and accomplished coaches in the world guiding our sporting vision.”
After the Reign performed historically poorly in 2024, the club’s first season without Megan Rapinoe and mired in an unfinished sale that lost them key free agents, Harvey led a strong turnaround in 2025. Seattle returned to the NWSL Playoffs in 2025 with a 10-7-9 record (W-L-D), good for a fifth-place finish and 16 more points than they finished with in 2024.
The Reign has been building around developing young talent who can also make an impact right now, like Maddie Dahlien, Jordyn Bugg, Sam Meza, Claudia Dickey, Sally Menti, Mia Fishel, and Emeri Adames — many of whom have been increasingly recognized for their NWSL play with U.S. women’s national team call-ups.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity and trust the club has placed in me,” Harvey said in the announcement. “The progress we made in 2025 speaks to the work our players and staff put in every day. Our priority is continuing to grow our talent pool, playing with a clear identity and putting a product on the field that reflects who we are as a club and as a city.”
With a strong young core in place and a nearly full roster, Seattle has yet to make any significant player moves this offseason. Even without additional signings, the Reign’s long-term project is set up for success with its head coach under contract to shepherd this young team into the future.
