Aston Villa have now opened talks to sign an “outstanding” player, and reaching an agreement on personal terms isn’t expected to be an issue.
Villa keen on new forward with Malen set to join AS Roma
Donyell Malen appears to be heading for the exit door, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently confirming the forward is set to join AS Roma on an initial loan deal, which includes an obligation to buy.
Consequently, Villa will need to bring in a new forward before the end of the month, and they have identified a number of targets, recently making a ‘decisive’ move to sign Fiorentina centre-forward Moise Kean, who is protected by a £52m release clause.
Kean is not the only option, however, as Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas has now revealed Aston Villa have opened talks to sign Tammy Abraham, who is set to become a Besiktas player, following an initial loan from Roma.
Discussions are described as ‘tentative’, indicating the deal isn’t advanced at this stage, but crucially, Romano has revealed the striker is interested in a move to Villa Park, and personal terms aren’t expected to be a problem.
“Outstanding” Abraham could be solid Malen replacement
Villa definitely need to get a new forward through the door this month, with Thomas revealing Malen is currently in Rome for a medical, and Abraham could be a solid option, given that he is very experienced, with perhaps his best form coming during his time at Roma.
While playing in the Serie A, the Englishman was lauded as “outstanding” by journalist Henry Winter, bagging 17 Serie A goals in the 2021-22 campaign, and he has recently shown signs he could still be at that level.
Olabe now planning Aston Villa move for “brilliant” £17m ace who Emery admires
Roberto Olabe has his eye on a former Barcelona player.
With Besiktas this season, the 11-time England international has 12 goals to his name in all competitions, and he found the back of the net on four occasions in the Coppa Italia last term, as his AC Milan side came up short against Bologna in the final.
The former Aston Villa man, who rakes in £125k-a-week, has proven he may still have a lot left to give, and if he is willing to play second fiddle to Ollie Watkins, the striker could be a savvy addition to Unai Emery‘s squad.
