Settlement paves way for QB Darian Mensah to chase national title at Miami

Quarterback Darian Mensah got his wish. Now comes the hard part.

On Tuesday, Duke, Mensah and his representatives came to an agreement allowing the rising junior quarterback to leave the program despite signing a two-year contract last offseason and affirming his commitment to Duke in December. He’s expected to sign with the Miami Hurricanes, the 2025 national runner-up.

Between the messy exit and his tough act in following Cam Ward, the 2025 No. 1 overall pick of the NFL Draft, and Carson Beck, who led the program to its first CFP berth, Mensah will be under intense scrutiny this fall.

Young Money APAA Sports, which represents Mensah, shared a statement early Tuesday announcing the mutual agreement with Duke.

“Darian extends his sincere gratitude to Duke University for engaging in good-faith discussions and reaching this resolution,” the statement read.

“He wishes the Blue Devils, Coach [Manny] Diaz, the staff and the entire fan base continued success in the seasons ahead,” it continued.
