An unfortunate update about a popular WWE RAW star has surfaced ahead of tonight’s show. Tonight is the last edition of the red brand ahead of Royal Rumble 2026 this Saturday in Saudi Arabia.
The Judgment Day’s JD McDonagh has not competed in a match since his loss to Rey Mysterio on the November 24, 2025, episode of WWE RAW. During a Q&A session on Fightful Select, WrestleVotes provided an update on The Irish Ace’s status. WrestleVotes noted that McDonagh would not be returning anytime soon and suggested he would not be back until around WrestleMania 42 later this year.

McDonagh revealed in December 2025 that he was stepping away to deal with injuries. He shared the message from a hospital bed and seemingly underwent surgery on his hand.
Finn Balor and JD McDonagh have won the World Tag Team Championships twice on WWE RAW as a duo. Balor challenged CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of last week’s episode of RAW, but came up short in a hard-fought match.
JD McDonagh comments on winning WWE tag titles with Finn Balor
The Judgment Day’s JD McDonagh recently shared his thoughts on winning the World Tag Team Championships with Finn Balor.
Speaking with Chris Van Vliet on the Insight podcast, McDonagh stated that he felt like he had been chasing Balor for a long time, and it was very rewarding to win the titles with him.
“I felt kind of for a long time, I was chasing him, trying to catch up to him. He did Japan, so I did Japan a few years later. He made it to America, and it took me a little while, but I made it to America, and then for it all to kind of culminate with being his partner and lifting the tag team title together. It was super hard for me. I feel like, if I talk about it for too long, I’ll get emotional. It was so, so fulfilling and such a full circle moment for me on him training me.
