AEW unlikely to sign 39-year-old star; Tony Khan allegedly not a fan – Reports

Tony Khan has already signed a lot of new talent to AEW in 2026. However, there’s another star who recently became a free agent but is unlikely to join the Jacksonville-based promotion. The star is none other than New Japan Pro Wrestling’s EVIL.

EVIL is set to become a free agent after his contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling comes to an end after January is over. Many fans are wondering if he will join All Elite Wrestling now like a lot of other NJPW talent has done in the past. However, the President of All Elite Wrestling is not a big fan of the free agent.

A report from Fightful that came out last year revealed that the AEW President Tony Khan feels like EVIL doesn’t have any history with his promotion. It also clearly stated that Khan isn’t a big fan of 234 Lb star. So it won’t be wrong to assume that All Elite Wrestling is an unlikely landing point for EVIL.

It will be exciting to see where EVIL will go next in his in-ring career.

EVIL will most likely sign with WWE instead of AEW

The year has just started yet the Jacksonville-based company has already started building new stars. They have already signed more than a dozen free agents and started working on new feuds. WWE is expected to do the same as there are a lot of stars who recently became free agents. New Japan Pro Wrestling’s EVIL is one such superstar.

A recent report revealed that the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion was recently spotted backstage at WWE events. This means it is possible that he is going to sign with the Stamford-based promotion soon instead of the competition that is AEW. The star was in New Japan for nearly 11 years and it would be exciting to see him in WWE.

It will be interesting to see how Triple H’s creative will treat the former Bullet Club member.
