Finn Balor was not at the Royal Rumble in Riyadh, so he could not make it to AJ Styles’ match against Gunther or bid him adieu. The Judgment Day member, however, took on X to post pictures with Styles and an inspiring caption.
The inaugural Universal Champion posted four pictures. Two were captured candidly backstage. One backstage photo, where both posed ‘Too Sweet,’ and the last one was in the ring, with ‘Demon’ Balor again, ‘Too Sweeted’ AJ after their first-ever match at TLC 2017.
Thanks for the submission!
He wrote the caption:
“4 Life.”
Their history dates back to 2013-14, when both led the NJPW faction, Bullet Club. Finn Balor, in fact, started it, but the next leader was The Phenomenal One, who built the faction. Then, in WWE, both were in the same place at the same time and finally locked horns.
Since 2017, Styles-Balor had multiple matches. However, in 2022, The Judgment Day vs. the O.C. showed their proper faction feud. Even in 2026, they came face-to-face on RAW during Styles’ match against CM Punk, unbeknownst to the fact that it would be their last. The P1 will no longer wrestle in WWE, ending his decade-long run in the promotion.
Finn Balor gave AJ Styles his last loss on RAW
The RAW before the Royal Rumble saw CM Punk vs. AJ Styles. Styles knew that on that Saturday he could be wrestling his last WWE match. Thus, Punk vs. Styles, a first-ever match, was set for the former’s World Heavyweight Championship. The result, though, disappointed Punk, Styles, and even the fans.
In hindsight, AJ’s last RAW match ended in defeat. Not by pinfall or submission from Punk, but by Finn Balor’s dropkick. As The Second City Saint took the former WWE Champion onto his shoulders for a GTS, Finn ran in and dropkicked him into the corner.
The match ended in a disqualification, with Punk getting the win and retaining the title.
