OneUp Components Expands its Lineup With New Goldstone Signature Grip

We’ve known for quite a while that Jackson Goldstone is one of the fastest and most talented gravity racers in the world. Last year, the young Canadian confirmed that notion with five World Cup Downhill wins, earning him the title of the World Cup Overall Champ. Of course, when you’re the best in the world, brands like to put your name on things, as we saw with Fox Racing’s Goldstone Signature Collection of apparel and accessories. Today, OneUp Components adds to that list with the launch of the brand-new Goldstone Grip.

The new Goldstone Grip adds to OneUp Components’ growing collection of award-winning cockpit components and grips. Alongside the brand’s existing, and simply named Grips (30mm), Thick Grips (35mm), and Thin Grips (29mm), the Goldstone brings a more complex design developed by Jackson to provide maximum comfort and control while racing at the highest level.

    Goldstone Grip Details

OneUp Components is headquartered in Jackson’s hometown of Squamish, BC, which made it easy for him to meet and collaborate with the brand’s engineering team to design his signature grip. Given Jackson’s obvious affinity for riding fast, his grip was designed to complement his riding style and preferences, and to provide the control needed to race and win at the highest level.

Unlike the rest of OneUp’s grips, which are a consistent diameter/thickness, the Goldstone Grips have a variable thickness profile. They are thinner, 29mm, on the ends, thickening to 33mm in the center with the raised palm pad. This raised pad is intended to provide cushioning and fit comfortably under the palm. On the underside, raised and angled finger ribs fit under the knuckles and fingertips for traction and a locked-in grip.

The grips feature a pronounced, larger-diameter outer flange that keeps the hands centered and from slipping off the grip. On the inside, the grip rises slightly to the inner edge and the single lock-on collar. Between the ends and the raised palm pad, Jackson chose a deep knurl texture along with the soft, tacky 20A rubber compound. The outer flange is made with a firmer 45A compound, which should help keep them from being damaged when crashing or just setting the bike down. When taken altogether, the Goldstone Grips sound like a recipe for maximum control, with comfort to boot.
