T20 World Cup 2026 points table after match 6, SL vs IRE

T20 World Cup 2026 points table has taken an exciting turn after six games.

Sri Lanka started the T20 World Cup 2026 on a high as they beat Ireland in match six of the tournament. They registered a run win at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on Sunday. Asked to bat, Sri Lanka piled up 163 for six, and then ended Ireland’s innings on 143.

Sri Lanka had a poor start to their innings as their openers Pathum Nissanka (24) and Kamil Mishara (14) got caught up at the crease. Kusal Mendis (56) started slow but paced up brilliantly towards the end.

At one stage Sri Lanka were struggling at 86 for four, but it was Kamindu Mendis (44), who provided much-needed momentum to the Sri Lanka innings. He added 67 runs with Mendis as their partnership took Sri Lanka to a fighting total of 163 for six.

Ireland, in the chase, lost captain Paul Stirling early. But, Ross Adair (34) kept the run rate in check as he played some brilliant shots before Wanindu Hasaranga had his number. After that, Harry Tector (40) held fort in Ireland and along with Lorcan Tucker (2) brought his team back in the game.

However, Sri Lanka spinners then made fun of the batters and picked wickets in a flash. They ended Ireland’s innings on 143, winning the game by 20 runs. Maheesh Theekshana and Matheesha Pathirana bagged three wickets each.
