    ENGLAND

Mohamed Toure completed a move to England with Championship outfit Norwich City from Danish side Randers earlier this month for a reported fee of almost $6 million.

The 21-year-old forward made his mark instantly, celebrating his debut for the Canaries with a goal in front his new fans at Carrow Road on Saturday.

Toure came off the bench in the 51st minute and sealed a 2-0 victory for Norwich against relegation threatened Blackburn Rovers with a classic poachers goal in the 78th minute.

The Adelaide United product found the back of the net via a right foot tap in as he pounced on a rebound off the Blackburn goalkeeper.

Norwich manager Philippe Clement was thrilled with his new signing’s immediate impact.

“He’s more than a goal scorer, he has other qualities. I don’t want to say too much, because my friends in Oxford (their next opponent) will be listening also,” Clement said.

    “He’s a young, talented player.

“He’s not yet a top scorer, and he’s not been until now, but we as a staff are going to work really hard to get him into the right places. We told him also, and they all know the way we play, our striker will have chances every game to score goals, and then you need to be in the right position. He was.

“He is one for the future, but we can also plug him in right now.

“With Mo’s power and speed he can work also from the sides. Maybe you can compare him a little bit as somebody who can play central, who is not really a winger, but with the pace that they have, and knowing the right way to come in front of the goal, they can cause problems.”

Lewis Miller, who made his Socceroos debut alongside Toure against England at Wembley Stadium in 2023, started for Blackburn.

The 25-year-old was deployed as a left wing-back rather than in his custom right-back position against Norwich.

Miller has been in good form, scoring a goal and providing an assist since the New Year despite his team’s struggles.

The win was Norwich’s fourth in their last five league games as they climb to 17th on the table in the 24-team competition.

Toure scored 11 goals in 44 appearances for Randers and made the move to England to enhance his World Cup chances this year.

The youngster has scored twice in eight appearances for the Socceroos, and if he keeps up his club form, he will almost certainly feature prominently in Tony Popovic’s plans.

Adrian Segecic is another young Australian who has been turning heads in the English second tier.

The 21-year-old started in Portsmouth’s 1-0 loss to Preston North End and the attacking midfielder has scored five goals, as well as providing two assists, in the league this season.

Cameron Burgess played a full match in the heart of defence as Swansea City kept a second clean sheet in a row with a 4-0 victory against Sheffield Wednesday.

In League One, goalkeeper Joe Gauci has played the full 90 minutes in Port Vale’s last four matches.

The Aston Villa loanee kept a clean sheet last month against Leyton Orient, but conceded twice in a draw with Burton Albion in his last outing.

Midfielder Alex Robertson started for Cardiff City in their 3-0 win against Rotherham.

In his previous appearance, the 22-year-old scored a double against Burton Albion in a 2-2 draw.

“It’s nice to get some goals, but the main thing is the team performance and the team result and the fact we didn’t win,” the Manchester City and Manchester United academy product said.

“Personally, I think we’re the best team in the league, we just need to show that when we play against the bigger teams, like you’ve seen at Bradford.

“It’s still a point in the right direction and we’re just going to keep trying to build on that. It could mean a lot at the end of the season, so we’ve just got to take it.”

    SCOTLAND

Martin Boyle scored the opening goal in Hibernian’s most recent league match – a thrilling 3-2 midweek victory against Dundee United to remain fifth on the table.

The 32-year-old forward has found the back of the net six times in the league this season, while he has scored nine times across all competitions.

Boyle is joined at Hibs by JackIredale, who featured in November’s national team squad, and the 29-year-old has been a mainstay at centre back this season for the Edinburgh-based club.

Veteran defender Ryan McGowan picked up his first assist of the season in his most recent outing for Livingston, but it came in a 2-1 loss to Falkirk.

The 36-year-old played in each Socceroos match at the 2014 World Cup, but has not featured in a national team squad for almost four years.

    GERMANY

Jackson Irvine made his first start for German outfit St Pauli since his return from injury.

The midfielder helped his club pick up a much-needed victory against Stuttgart to move two points away from safety in the Bundesliga.

    ITALY

Alessandro Circati was also instrumental for Parma in 1-0 win against Bologna.

The centre back has started in all 19 of his Serie A appearances this season and provided an assist in Parma’s previous outing against Juventus.

He is yet to play for the Socceroos, and may yet pledge his allegiance to Italy, but Antonio Arena has been turning heads for AS Roma.

The 16-year-old has been on the bench for five Serie A matches this year and sensationally scored with his first touch on debut in the Coppa d’Italia.

Arena has also six goals for the Under 20s.

    NETHERLANDS

Another player who is set to be a key cog of the Socceroos’ defence at this year’s World Cup, Jordy Bos, made his fifth straight start for Feyenoord in the Eredivisie.

The left back was hindered by a hamstring injury at the back end of 2025, but has scored a goal and provided an assist since his return to the starting line-up.

Feyenoord are second on the table, but 17 points behind runaway leaders PSV in the Dutch top flight.

While the title is likely off the table barring a miracle, Bos and his teammates will earn a player in next season’s Champions League group stage if they can remain their standing.

Elsewhere in the Eredivisie, defensive midfielder Max Balard was handed the captain’s armband for the first time as NAC Breda lost 2-0 to Excelsior.

Fellow midfielder Ajdin Hrustic is also enjoying an impressive season.

Despite his Heracles losing 4-1 to NEC Nijmegen on the weekend, Hrustic has played the full 90 minutes in 15 of their last 16 league games.

The 29-year-old also found the back of the net for the first time this season earlier this month – scoring the opener in a 2-1 win against Fortuna Sittard.

In the Dutch second division, midfielder Josh Nisbet has scored twice in the last three games for Roda JC Kerkrade.

    SPAIN

In Spain, Mat Ryan played the full 90 minutes for Levante for the 20th straight league game in a 4-2 loss to Athletic Club.

Levante’s previous outing was a highlight for Ryan, however, as he kept a clean sheet in a scoreless draw against Atletico Madrid.

The veteran shot stopper, who is eyeing off a fourth World Cup, also turned heads after that man of the match performance by conducting his entire post-match interview in Spanish.

In La Liga 2, Awer Mabil came off the bench for Castellon in a 4-0 win against Real Valladolid.

The winger has scored twice and provided three assists so far this season.

    ELSEWHERE IN EUROPE

Milos Degenek made the move to Cyprus with APOEL last month and the defender has played the full 90 minutes three times since departing Serbian club TSC.

Fran Karacic has played the full match in Croatian side Osijek’s last three games after spending four of the previous five on the bench.

Also in Croatia, Anthony Kalik came off the bench for the first time in five games in Hajduk Split’s 2-0 win against Slaven.

Goalkeeper Paul Izzo kept a clean sheet for Randers in a scoreless draw with Brondby in the Danish Super League.

In the Czech top division, Garang Kuol made his first start in more than two months for Sparta Prague in their 3-0 win against Zlin.

In Austria, Jacob Italiano returned Grazer AK’s matchday squad for the first time in seven games after being sidelined with a calf injury.

    ASIA

In Singapore, centre back Bailey Wright scored his second goal in as many games for Lion City Sailors in their 2-0 win against Young Lions.

Wright has found the back of the net four times in nine league games this season.

Kusini Yengi made his debut for Cerezo Osaka as a substitute in Japan on the weekend.

There are no more draws in J-League matches this season with penalty shootouts taking place if the scores a level when the final whistle blows.

Yengi converted his effort from the spot, but his team was beaten by local rivals Gamba Osaka.
