It is fair to say that Danny Rohl has done a remarkable job with Glasgow Rangers since he came in to replace Russell Martin in the dugout at Ibrox.
The Light Blues endured a disastrous start to the 2025/26 campaign with the former Southampton and Swansea head coach in place, as they only won one of their first seven matches in the Scottish Premiership.
Martin only won five of his 17 matches in charge of the Scottish side in all competitions, and his team only scored 21 goals in those 17 games.
Rohl, however, has won 15 of his 25 matches with the Gers in all competitions and just watched his team score eight goals past Queen’s Park in the SFA Cup on Sunday.
The German tactician’s impact in the Premiership, in particular, has been astounding, as his side have won 13 and only lost one of their last 17 league outings.
Ranking the best Rangers performers under Rohl
Rohl’s coaching has shown that some of last summer’s signings were not as poor as they were made to look during Martin’s tenure in the dugout at Ibrox.
Emmanuel Fernandez, for example, could not get a look in under the Scottish boss, starting one league game, but has arguably been the best Gers performer under the German, scoring four goals in 15 league games as a centre-back.
Midfield duo Nicolas Raskin, who was left out of several matchday squads by Martin, and Connor Barron, prior to his current injury, have also been impressive under Rohl, due to how combative and energetic they are in the middle of the park.

Mikey Moore, who provided a goal and an assist in the 5-1 win over Kilmarnock last time out in the Premiership, has caught the eye with four league goals for the ex-Sheffield Wednesday manager.
Jayden Meghoma, on loan from Brentford, also deserves some praise, as he has started 21 of his 22 league appearances and delivered five assists from left-back for Rohl.
Along with these five top performers, the German tactician is slowly bringing other players back up to their best levels after slow starts to the season.
The Rangers star who is now playing like Joe Aribo
Although he has given his best impression of one, Rohl is not a magician. Even with his coaching skills, some players still struggled at the start of his reign at Ibrox, as a carryover from Martin’s time in charge.
Mohamed Diomande, who is in the club’s top 20 most expensive signings of all time, did not enjoy the best few months directly after the German arrived.
He was sent off against Braga in the Europa League in November and Michael McEwan posted that “Diomande’s obsession with turning on the ball every time he’s in possession is utterly infuriating” during the 2-1 defeat to Hearts in the league in December.
In 13 appearances under Rohl in 2025, the Ivorian midfielder produced one goal, one assist, and one red for the Scottish giants, which shows that he was rarely influential at the top end of the pitch and is why we have not placed him in the top five performers, yet.
Since the turn of the year, though, Diomande has started to look more like the manager’s own version of Gers icon Joe Aribo, as an influential and dynamic midfield star.
During his time at Ibrox, Aribo made a habit out of providing quality in the final third, scoring 26 goals and registering 25 assists in all competitions, most notably scoring in the Europa League final against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Diomande may not have quite hit those levels just yet, but the left-footed star has shown real improvement of late. In 2026, the Ivorian whiz has scored one goal and provided two assists in nine appearances, eclipsing his tally of goal contributions in his first 13 games for Rohl.
That includes two assists in his last two appearances for the Gers, assisting Bojan Miovski against Kilmarnock and James Tavernier against Queen’s Park.

Diomande’s return of 11 goals and assists in the 2024/25 Premiership season proved that he does have the ability to score and assist goals on a regular basis, as Aribo did during his time with the Gers.
However, that did not carry over to Martin’s time in the dugout and it has taken some time for Rohl to unlock the best of his abilities on the ball in midfield.
It has been worth the wait, though, because Diomande now appears to be hitting his stride for Rangers heading into a crucial run of games in the title race, with Motherwell and Hearts up next.
Ibrox flop now looks finished at Rangers after Naderi’s debut
This Rangers flop’s time at Ibrox may already be on borrowed time after the signing of Ryan Naderi.
Hopefully, the left-footed star will continue to impress and prove that he can be a difference-maker with goal contributions from a midfield position to help the Gers win trophies this season.
