Filipino MMA powerhouse Danny Kingad is all geared up to display a more evolved and dangerous version of himself when he steps on the global stage of ONE Championship later this week.
The 30-year-old Lions Nation MMA representative faces Chinese combatant ‘Wolf Warrior’ Hu Yong in a flyweight MMA clash at ONE Fight Night 40: Buntan vs. Hemetsberger II on Prime Video inside Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium this Friday, Feb. 13.
During his pre-fight interview leading up to this blockbuster card, Kingad, simply known as ‘The King’ to his legion of fans, revealed exactly what fans can expect from his comeback performance.
“I’m extremely fired up to be back inside the Circle this February 13. This fight means a lot to me because it’s an important step toward my goal. I’ve been training with intensity, focus, and purpose, and I’m ready to show a sharper, stronger, and more dangerous version of Danny Kingad,” he told ONE Championship.

Kingad’s appearance at ONE Fight Night 40 will mark the 17th time he’s competing in ONE Championship.
‘The King’ has come a long way since his promotional bow in April 2016, and he’s shared the global stage with flyweight’s finest such as Demetrious Johnson, Adriano Moraes, and current ONE flyweight MMA world champion Yuya Wakamatsu.
Hu Yong certain he’ll be able to stop Danny Kingad in Bangkok
Hu Yong enters his ONE Fight Night 40 assignment ready to spoil Danny Kingad’s comeback party.
Like Kingad, Hu Yong heads into this battle on the back of a two-match skid, and he’s eager to get his hand raised to position himself immediately back into the world title picture.
During a separate interview with ONE, ‘Wolf Warrior’ broke down the advantages he’ll have over Kingad when they collide.
“I believe my strengths lie in my stand-up striking and my never-give-up spirit. I think standing strikes are my signature strength. If I were to fight standing up, I’m confident that I could knock out everyone,” the Chinese slugger shared.
Fight fans in the United States and Canada with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription can catch all the action from ONE Fight Night 40, live in U.S. primetime, for free on Friday, Feb. 13.
