A former WWE star has been spotted looking unrecognizable after 20 years. During the brand split era, many fresh faces made their way to WWE, with many of them being pushed quickly.
One name that Ruthless Aggression Era fans will remember is Heidenreich. A former professional footballer, he first made his debut on RAW in 2003, and after a brief stint, he showed up on SmackDown.
Thanks for the submission!
He feuded with The Undertaker on the brand and had a few matches with The Deadman. However, he left the promotion in 2006 and wrestled on the independents. Recently, a wrestling fan in Greenfield, Ohio, spotted Heidenreich working in a Walmart, looking unrecognizable from his last WWE appearance.
Taking to his Facebook, the fan posted about often seeing him at the mart, and the two recently had a conversation over pro wrestling. It was then that the fan realized that Heidenreich used to wrestle for WWE.
“So I’m at work last week, and there is an older gentleman stocking, we would always say ‘hey’ in passing , the other day he was like ‘did you ever watch WWE?’ I was like ‘as matter of fact I used to watch it all the time.’ Then dude said ‘Yeah, I used to be a wrestler, I’ve wrestled The Undertaker, Booker T, Steven Regal, The Rock, I met Steve Austin at his debut match. Used to hang out with Triple H and Trish Stratus.’ Like…… ‘Wait …… What?! Your kidding right’……. Dude was in fact……. Not kidding” the fan wrote in the post.
The fan further mentioned that he bought a Heidenreich action figure for him to sign and posed with him for a picture.
Heidenreich teamed up with a WWE legend
While he was unsuccessful in defeating The Undertaker, Heidenreich did get to team up with a legend in the Stamford-based company.
During his run as a babyface, he feuded with MNM and soon found a partner in Road Warrior Animal of the legendary Legion of Doom.
They started teaming up, and in 2005 they beat MNM to win the Tag Team Championship at Great American Bash, which remains Heidenreich’s only title in the promotion.
