Tottenham considering replacing Frank with “fantastic” title-winning manager

Following Thomas Frank‘s recent departure, Tottenham Hotspur are now considering a move for a “fantastic” manager, who’s won two league titles.

Tottenham searching for new manager after Frank dismissal

Tottenham made the decision to sack Frank on Wednesday morning, with the 2-1 home defeat against Newcastle United proving to be the final straw, but while bringing in a top replacement is important, Jamie O’Hara believes the club needs to make wholesale changes.

With Spurs potentially in a relegation battle, given that they are just five points clear of the Premier League relegation zone, there needs to be an immediate improvement in results, and work is underway to appoint a new manager.

The likes of Xavi, Roberto De Zerbi, and Gareth Southgate have all emerged as potential targets, while it is also possible ENIC will choose to bring in an interim manager until the end of the season, with Ryan Mason being considered.

However, Mason is not the only option, with a report from The Telegraph revealing Tottenham are considering replacing Frank with Ferencvaros manager Robbie Keane, as they are likely to appoint an external candidate, if they decide to bring in an interim boss.

However, ENIC would have to pay compensation if they were to move for Keane, as he recently penned a contract extension with the Hungarian club.

Appointing a former player as an interim manager has certainly served Manchester United well, with Michael Carrick taking 13 points from his opening five Premier League games, and there are signs the former striker could have a similar impact at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“Fantastic” Keane on course to become top manager

The Irishman has received high praise for the work he’s done in Eastern Europe with Ferencvaros, with Nigel Reo-Coker recently saying he’s done a “fantastic” job.

The Green Eagles are indisputably the biggest club in Hungary and so the young coach can certainly say he knows how to deal with the weight of managing a big team.

Not only that, but the 45-year-old has also already won two titles, winning the Hungarian league last season, and the Israeli Premier League with Maccabi Tel Aviv in the 2023-24 campaign, so he certainly knows how to win.

The former Tottenham striker is taking a slightly unusual path, but he has an excellent record as a manager up to this point.

With Keane now experienced in management, he could be a solid appointment on an interim basis between now and the end of the season.
