Fabrizio Romano reveals the two most likely Tottenham managers after Igor Tudor

Fabrizio Romano has revealed who the two ‘main candidates’ are to become Tottenham‘s permanent manager in June after Igor Tudor was appointed on an interim basis today.

Tottenham appoint Igor Tudor as interim until the end of 2025/2026

After just a few days, Spurs’ hunt for an immediate Thomas Frank replacement has come to an end.

Alasdair Gold confirmed earlier this morning that the Lilywhites would appoint a temporary stop-gap boss to get them through 2025/2026, and hopefully far away from the Premier League relegation zone.

Despite some reports that Spurs were planning an offer for ex-Barcelona boss Xavi, and working on a pre-World Cup agreement with Mauricio Pochettino, it appears the north Londoners have immediately landed on their top interim target.

That man is Tudor, who most recently left Juventus after just seven months at the helm.

The 47-year-old, in truth, rather suits being an interim, as he has never stayed at a single club for longer than 70 games.

His longest managerial spell came back in his homeland with Hadjuk Split, where he managed the Croatian side for just under two years, with his second-longest stint in charge of a club coming at Marseille.

Tudor was only at Marseille for a single season, which tells you all you need to know about his longevity in the dugout.

    He’s made it ‘clear’.

The move for Tudor was apparently driven by Vinai Venkatesham and Johan Lange, who have agreed a deal with the ex-Udinese and Galatasaray boss to come to N17 on a short-term basis.

Unless the Croatian spearheads Spurs to an extraordinary end to the campaign, it seems very unlikely that he’ll be at Tottenham beyond June.

Taking this into account, Romano has shared who the two most likely managers are to take over from Tudor once he departs north London.

Writing on social media, the reliable journalist claimed that both Pochettino and Roberto De Zerbi are the two ‘main candidates’ for Tottenham this summer with their managerial search poised to eventually resume.

Both De Zerbi and Pochettino offer exactly what Tottenham desperately crave after Frank’s sterile disaster.

Pochettino brings proven Spurs DNA, with four consecutive top-four finishes and a Champions League final earning legendary status supporters still worship.

His high-intensity approach matches the club’s identity perfectly, whilst his youth development expertise suits Tottenham as well.

De Zerbi counters with his exciting tactical innovation demonstrated at Brighton, delivering swashbuckling football which thrilled neutrals weekly.

His bold attacking philosophy and willingness to challenge bigger clubs with limited resources could also be a major attraction for Spurs.

Both managers could restore entertainment alongside results, crucial after months of enduring Frank’s joyless pragmatism, which delivered neither victories nor excitement worth watching.
