Malinin’s hurricane on Friday night may not have been the only one to be unleashed if things had gone further between the Swedes and Canadians in the men’s curling match. The Nordic team accused their rivals of cheating and touching the stone once it had been thrown or after the line that delimits the contact
The match was tense from the start. The Swedes chose to stop the match and ask the referees to be aware of the Canadians that the stone could not be touched once it was already sliding. Canada, in response, did the same exercise, which added even more spice
With the score at 7-6, Oskar Eriksson and Mark Kennedy had a heated discussion for this reason again, even saying that he had videos where he could prove his accusations, something that angered the Canadian. “I told him to shove it up his ass. I don’t like being accused of cheating. I’ve been playing curling for 25 years and I’m a professional,” he said.
The umpires did not note any anomalies at the end of the game in which Canada eventually won 8-6.
