    Team Vince Carter and Team Tracy McGrady locked horns in the Rising Stars Semifinal Game 2 at the Intuit Dome on Friday. This game tipped off after Team Carmelo Anthony recorded a 40-34 win over Team Austin Rivers in the first semifinal.

    Team Vince is headlined by the Philadelphia 76ers’ athletic guard V.J. Edgecombe, who is having a remarkable rookie season. On the flip side, Charlotte Hornets’ Kon Knueppel, a contender for the Rookie of the Year award, leads Team T-Mac.

    Team Vince started the game with a lineup featuring Egor Demin, Matas Buzelis, Derik Queen, Keshawn George and V.J. Edgecombe. Meanwhile, Team T-Mac’s starting lineup comprised Jaylon Tyson, Kon Knueppel, Kel’el Ware, Cam Spencer and Tre Jones.

    Team T-Mac jumped to a 12-7 lead after Ware scored five quick points and Knueppel excelled as a playmaker. Johnson knocked down a 3-pointer and pushed Team T-Mac’s lead to 15-7, forcing a timeout from Vince Carter.

    Team Vince erased most of the eight-point deficit, trimming it to just two after Edgecombe caught fire on the offensive end. Tracy McGrady was forced into calling a quick timeout, but it didn’t make any difference.

    Edgecombe seemed to have his eyes set on the MVP award as he continued to impose his will on the game. Team T-Mac had no answers to Edgecombe’s red-hot scoring run. Team Vince turned the game on its head after the second timeout, with Edgecombe taking his brigade on the cusp of a win.

    Team T-Mac battled back to make it 39-36, but its comeback hopes were dashed by Edgecombe. The Sixers rookie calmly knocked down a jumper from just inside the 3-point line, sealing a 41-36 victory for Team Vince Carter.

    V.J. Edgecombe finished the game as the leading scorer, dropping 17 points on 6 of 8 shooting from the floor, including 3 of 4 from beyond the arc. Jaylon Tyson led Team T-Mac in scoring, finishing with 10 points on 3 of 5 shooting.
