BC Bike Race Organizers Announce The BC Bike Fest Featuring XC, Enduro, and DH Races

For 20 years now, the crew behind the BC Bike Race has been bringing fun and challenging MTB events to British Columbia. This year, they’ve announced the all-new BC Bike Fest, a three-day MTB festival taking place from May 29-31st. This event will debut in Cowichan Bay on Vancouver Island, B.C., starting on the final day of the BC Bike Race and running alongside the first of two Mega Volt eMTB events for 2026.

The BC Bike Fest features concurrent standalone XC, adaptive XC, enduro, and downhill races, bringing several MTB disciplines together under one umbrella. The event’s central base camp offers entertainment, food, and refreshments, and plenty of opportunity to socialize with fellow riders. Registration for the BC Bike Fest opens on Monday, February 16th.

The BC Bike Fest basecamp will be set up at the Cowichan Exhibition Grounds, which is surrounded by three different trail networks. The Maple Mountain area will host the XC races, Mount Tzouhalem’s trails will challenge enduro racers, and Mount Prevost provides ideal terrain for the DH race with steep trails, drops, and gap jumps.

Aside from the races, the BC Bike Fest offers fun side events, including a ‘Rambo Bike Relay’ and a Bike Toss. Bike demos will also be available, there is a bike expo area to explore, and post-ride entertainment includes live musical performances. The BC Bike Fest will have food trucks on site and a beer garden. Other activities include a movie night on Saturday, a family ride and hot dog BBQ on Sunday, and even a vintage bike display.

    XC, Enduro and DH Races:

The BCBR Rolling Thunder XC and Adaptive XC races will take place on Saturday, May 30th. Presented by Transition Bicycle Company, the Rolling Thunder race is a short-format, all-mountain XC race featuring fast, flowy, and technical trails.

The BCBR Enduro includes a practice day on Saturday, and the race on Sunday, May 31st. This enduro race, presented by Orbea, showcases Mount Tzouhalem’s blend of technical terrain and flow trails.

Finally, the BCBR DH runs all weekend with a trackwalk on Friday, May 29th, practice and seeding on Saturday, and finals on Sunday. Sponsored by Stereo Racing, this event is held on Mount Prevost, famously known as the training grounds of Canadian DH racing legend Stevie Smith.

Registration is also now open for both the BC Bike Race and Mega Volt eMTB events. The BC Bike Race will be held from May 23rd to 29th, finishing in the Cowichan Valley on the first day of the BC Bike Fest. This will be the last year the BC Bike Race follows its traditional seven-day stage racing format. The organizers plan to evolve the event starting next year, and details on that will be released in March.

The BC Bike Race is an entirely separate event from the BC Bike Fest. To find out more or to register, go to bcbikerace.com. The event is already filling up, but limited spots are still available.

The first Mega Volt eMTB event of 2026 runs concurrently with the BC Bike Fest, from May 29th– 31st at the Cowichan Exhibition Grounds. For 2026, there will be two Mega Volt events – the second will be held in Squamish, B.C., from Oct 2nd- 4th. Follow the link to read about my experience at last year’s Mega Volt in Naramata, B.C. The Mega Volt events are separate from the BC Bike Fest with their own registration, scheduling, and programming. Visit themegavolt.com for more info or to register.
