Spark is a tried and tested skill in Path of Exile 2 for a League starter. It’s great for leveling throughout the campaign from start to end, and scales extremely well for the endgame. Even without powerful combos like Comet, one of the most popular builds in patch 0.4, Spark alone is sufficient for clearing all content if you’re aiming to keep everything budget-friendly.
And if you’re going for elemental builds as a Sorcress, Stormweaver is the best choice of Ascendancy. This guide will break down how to build around Spark in Path of Exile 2 patch 0.4 and the best passive node setup to maximize damage and defense.
Spark Stormweaver skill setup in Path of Exile 2

As the name suggests, the main damage dealer on the build is Spark. While you do have other supporting skills, they’re mostly support, except Orb of Storms, which helps propagate the damage. Here’s the basic skill setup for Spark Stormweaver.
- Spark: Rapid Casting – Projectile Acceleration – Pinpoint Critical – Efficiency
- Orb of Storms: Overabundance – Pinpoint Critical – Efficiency – Prolonged Duration
- Frost Bomb: Overabundance – Short Fuse – Potent Exposure – Spell Cascade
- Elemental Weakness: Heightened Curse – Prolonged Duration – Focused Curse – Expanse
- Sigil of Power: Prolonged Duration – Magnified Area
- Convalescence: Cooldown Recovery – Prolonged Duration
- Mana Tempest: Efficiency
- Mana Remnants: Clarity
- Siphon Elements: Harmonic Remnants
The skill rotation for mobbing is using Orb of Storms across two spots on the screen, along with Frost Bomb to create Cold Infusions while casting Spark. For bossing, you’ll also want to drop Sigil of Power and Elemental Weakness.

If survivability and mana aren’t an issue, then you can also make use of Mana Tempest that constantly drains your resource and forces you to stand still in exchange for additional lightning damage and the ability to split spell attacks towards additional targets.
Mana Remnants make sure you create resources to regain mana, while Siphon Elements will make Infusions. Convalescence is for defense in case you take heavy damage to Energy Shield and want a quick recharge with no interruptions.
Best itemization for Spark Stormweaver in Path of Exile 2

Since we aren’t using additional damage skills like Comet, the build doesn’t need super expensive items like Temporalis to work. That said, just like every build, you can easily spend hundreds of divines if you’re looking for the best rolls to min-maxing gear or using expensive idols and runes. Here are the basic affixes you’ll want to have on every piece of gear.
Maligaro’s Virtuosity fixes your critical damage at 250%. While it may seem like a drawback, the fact that it ignores any form of reduction helps you build a critical hit rate much more easily. You can pick up nodes like Careful Assassin and support gems like Pinpoint Critical without any issues.

Call of the Brotherhood is another great addition that allows you to convert all of your lightning damage to Cold, along with lightning resistance and mana regen. While not necessary, slowing down or freezing enemies adds another layer of defense to the build. Speaking of which, you may have also noted that the primary defense is Energy Shield, which is currently the meta in Path of Exile 2, along with Chaos Inoculation.
Best passive tree setup for Spark Stormweaver in Path of Exile 2

If you’ve played any crit-based Sorceress build, then the passive tree for Spark Stormweaver will feel very familiar. Apart from the elemental nodes, the layout heavily focuses on critical hit chance, increasing energy shield, and spell damage. The image above is there to give you a general idea, assuming you’re converting lightning to Cold, but feel free to make changes if you wish to change elements or stay a pure lightning-based build.
As for the Ascendancy, Stormweaver fits perfectly with the Spark build in Path of Exile 2. It’s got Constant Gale that grants you permanent Arcane Surge, which solves a big part of mana sustain issues. Then you can pick up Shaper of Storm to guarantee a chance to Shock enemies even if you don’t use lightning damage. However, you will need to pick up Strike Twice first, which allows you to apply two instances of Shock on enemies, but with 25% less shock magnitude.
Lastly, Storm’s Recollection is another part of the mana sustain that pairs well with Mana Remnants. It will increase the distance from where you can collect Remnants, while also making them reappear after three seconds for double benefits. The passive will be very useful throughout the endgame when the skills will cost a lot more mana.
