When criticism comes toward NFL players over things that have nothing to do with their performance on the field, the truth is they usually take it lightly or simply do not care.
This is the case for Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams. In an interview he had with Maxx Crosby on his podcast, he spoke about the issue, and his response was exactly what many expected.
For the passer, there are more important things to focus on and pay attention to; regarding those situations, he does not spend time responding.
Caleb Williams opens up about criticism over his painted nails
Regarding this peculiarity of painting his nails, the Bears quarterback responded directly to Maxx Crosby.
You know, people feel a certain way about it in a masculine sport, and I give no f-ks, to be honest with you. I couldn’t care less.
The athlete said on the podcast.
And I’m gonna keep doing it, and it’s unique to m,e and it’s a cool way to embrace certain things, show love to certain things … so that’s why I do it.
It is worth remembering that this situation comes as a tribute to his mother, who is a nail technician, and he has no issue at all painting them. He also grew up watching his mother perform that work.
And it was not until he went on a date with an ex-girlfriend that he decided to start doing it himself.
One day I was with one of my exes and we were going to the nail salon and she was like, ‘Why don’t you get [yours done too]?
He recalled.
I was like, ‘F-k it.’ I know who I am, I know what I like. And so, I did it. And it ended up becoming, you know, three nails, four nails, five, six … and I ended up just doing it.
At first, he used it to mock certain rivals, for example: “F$%k Texas.”
I enjoy trolling, I do. I have to be careful with it now … but I do it sometimes,” he said. “And I try and do it smart.
Later, it turned into a way to support causes that matter to him.
I’ve done the suicide prevention number, I’ve done breast cancer awareness,” he said. “It’s like wearing pink cleats and a pink headband. It’s just gel on my nails!
