The NBA fined Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves for violently tossing the game ball into the stands on Thursday. Edwards’ actions resulted in a $25,000 fine, announced by James Jones, the executive vice president, head of basketball operations.
The incident occurred at halftime of the Wolves’ 124-121 win over the Portland Trail Blazers. Following the fine, Adidas saw it as an opportunity to market Edwards’ AE 2. Posted on the internet, it showed the NBA star talking to his accountant, who was preparing a boatload of cash.
Thanks for the submission!
In the commercial, the accountant told Edwards that the money was for special cases where he’d get into it with other players or officials. He told the four-time All-Star that they prepared $430,000, just in case he gets fined by the league.

“ You really think I’mma slow down now that I got the 2s?” Edwards said. “Man, look at them.
“You see that? That’s the difference between a floater and a poster set. They got them fangs, gonna keep me stable. And they strong, too.”
Anthony Edwards told his accountant that he won’t slow down and that Adidas should “double up.” The release of the ad was perfect timing for the brand. According to Spotrac, Edwards has been fined 11 times this season. The last time he was fined was on Feb. 2 for getting a technical foul.
Since the release of his signature shoes, Adidas has been praised for its marketing campaign. It has been simple, entertaining and charismatic. It has fit the personality that Edwards has presented to fans, fitting it perfectly.
Adidas has continued to stick to the style that has worked for the company and Edwards, and fans have enjoyed them.
