    T20 World Cup 2026 points table after Super 8 match 49, ENG vs NZ: England thrash New Zealand to keep Pakistan ALIVE

    ENG vs NZ saw England winning by 4 wickets and keeping Pakistan alive in tournament.

    England completed their third straight win in the Super 8 stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. They beat New Zealand by four wickets at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo to keep Pakistan alive as well in the tournament. Opting to bat, New Zealand posted 159 for seven, which England chased in the last over. 

    New Zealand had a decent start to their innings despite a challenging time with the new ball. Tim Seifert (35) and Fin Allen (29) played well and added 64 runs for the opening stand. With three quick wickets, England then made a comeback.

    Glenn Phillips (39) held one end up and played a decent hand despite wickets falling at the other end. Thanks to his innings, New Zealand posted 159 for seven. For England, Adil Rashid, Will Jacks and Rehan Ahmed picked two wickets each.

    England had a horrible start to their innings with Phil Salt and Jos Buttler getting out for just two. Harry Brook (26) and Jacob Bethell (21) then brought their side back in the game with their 48-run stand for the third wicket.

    Tom Banton (33) and Sam Curran (24) also played vital hands that kept England in the hunt.

    Although, New Zealand picked wickets at regular intervals, Will Jacks (32*) and Rehan Ahmed (19*)  held their nerves and took their team home with four wickets in hand.
