“Their worst album ever” – Fans disappointed with BLACKPINK’s ‘Deadline’ MV and songs despite anticipation following four-year hiatus

On February 27, BLACKPINK released Deadline, their first group collection in four years since BORN PINK. The project contains five tracks. The lineup includes the title song Jump, along with Go, Me and My, Champion, and Fxxxboy. The record follows a lengthy gap since the quartet of Lisa, Rosé, Jennie, and Jisoo last issued a joint body of work. Out of all the songs, only the title track Go received an official music video at the time of the album release.

Despite the return, sections of the fandom voiced dissatisfaction online. One listener stated confusion over Go‘s storyline. They noted visually appealing sets but limited choreography. The comment also pointed out minimal Korean lyrics, extended instrumental portions, and reduced on-screen interaction among the members. The fan added that the title track did not meet expectations after the extended hiatus. They described it as weaker compared to previous lead singles.

no choreo… no korean lyrics… half the song being the instrumental… the girls didn’t really interact in the mv… idk im not gagging. i love blackpink but srsly this song wasn’t worth the wait and honestly one of their weakest tt imo 🫩

With this, disappointment among fans continues to grow.

“This being their worst album ever like 😭😭😭 blackpink as much as i love you, you’re DONE,” an X user commented.

this being their worst album ever like 😭😭😭 blackpink as much as i love you, you’re DONE

Many listeners are calling it the quartet’s “worst” project so far.

this is the worst ever album rollout from blackpink and YG… no effort whatsoever. they might as well just drop it without pretending to promote it.

the new blackpink album ??? well that’s def their worst sh*t ever bc wth is this ? been in thisbp shit since october 2016 but they rlly need to disband atp

‘DEADLINE’ ALBUM IS BLACKPINK’S WORST ALBUM IN THEIR CAREER, VERY EMPTY SONGS, LEAKED SONGS, SONG QUALITY DECLINED DRASTICALLY, F*CKING BRING BACK THE OLD BLACKPINK #blackpink #go #blackpinkgo #deadline #YG

Calls for disbandment are growing as critics argue that BLACKPINK should focus on solo careers. Others described the project as “mediocre” and raised concerns over songwriting credits, including producer Dr. Luke. A section of commenters also claimed the group’s recent music does not match the impact of earlier eras.

why does blackpink keep making music as a group???? they all have clearly moved on from the group and have more success as solo acts…. they need to let it go and disband

Blackpink is really washed now. Their peak music was lovesick girl and peak era was the album. They are just regressing so badly now it’s really embarassing. Just disband and stop this sh*tshow

Blackpink that was disappointing and those song credits…. I won’t be revisiting this project at all… if y’all don’t want to do this anymore just disband cause I have no words about how mediocre and disappointing this project is

BLACKPINK hosts Deadline preview inside Seoul National Museum ahead of launch

BLACKPINK hosted an advanced album session at the National Museum of Korea in Seoul. The event occurred on the night of February 26th after public hours. Approximately 300 selected attendees entered the marble lobby. The preview introduced Deadline, in partnership with Spotify.

Guests proceeded through the central corridor known as the Path of History. A large floor banner stating “BLACKPINK WILL MAKE YOU” directed movement forward. The route led to a seating area encircling the digitally restored Gwanggaeto the Great Stele. The program ran in six rounds of 50 participants each, in which every group heard five new songs.

Following the album’s release, a dedicated listening zone opened in the lobby. Visitors may access it during standard operating hours. Furthermore, the collaboration extends to exhibition guidance. The members recorded multilingual commentary in Korean, English, and Thai for eight key artifacts. These include the Pensive Bodhisattva and the White Porcelain Moon Jar. The recordings guide audiences through major national treasures. Moreover, the museum exterior will display pink illumination through March 8.

Before returning with a fresh album, BLACKPINK regrouped for a large-scale stadium tour last year. Before that, each member focused on individual ventures. Lisa, Rosé, Jennie issued debut solo albums titled Alter Ego, Rosie, and Ruby, respectively, while Jisoo released the EP Amortage. In addition, several members expanded into acting. Lisa appeared in The White Lotus, Jennie featured in The Idol, and Jisoo took the lead role in Netflix’s forthcoming series Boyfriend on Demand.
