Former USC Trojans wide receiver Makai Lemon is making headlines after his comments at the ongoing NFL Scouting Combine.

During a press conference in Indianapolis on Saturday, he was asked to name his top three receivers in the league at the moment. However, his behavior during the interview is what caught the eye of the NFL world.

“I’m going to go 3 for 3 for sure,” Lemon said. “I’m gonna go J Jettas (Justin Jefferson). I’m going to go Ja’Marr Chase and I’m gonna go Jaxson Smith-Njigba.”

Former NFL tackle Breiden Fehoko questions Makai Lemon’s hype

Makai Lemon is projected to go in the first-round of this year’s draft. This year’s wide receivers class also contains players like Ohio State’s Carnell Tate.

However, former Steelers tackle Breiden Fehoko is still not sold on the ex-USC star’s hype. On Saturday, he shared a tweet on X, revealing his thoughts onLemon draft projections.

“I’m not seeing the hype about Makai Lemon. He doesn’t have elite speed & he’s much smaller so he isn’t a physical body. If you’re going to comp him to Amon Ra then he needs to fall along the lines of a 4th round receiver,” Fehoko tweeted.

For his performance last season, Lemon was honored as a Unanimous All-American and also won the Fred Biletnikoff Award. This is given to the best wide receiver in a season and was previously won by players like Devona Smith and Ja’Marr Chase.

The 2026 NFL draft takes place in Pittsburgh from April 23 to 25.
