The Minnesota Vikings are willing to trade edge rusher Jonathan Greenard. The NFC North team is $46.4 million over the salary cap, which makes it hard for them to do business and keep their roster untouched ahead of the 2026 campaign.
The Vikings are the second-worst team in the league when it comes to salary cap (the Cowboys are $56.6 million over it), which would force them to make uncomfortable decisions to keep their chances alive.
Thanks for the submission!
Amid rumors suggesting they will move on from J.J. McCarthy soon, the Vikings came up with a difficult solution to their cap space situation.

Fans reacted to the news on social media, criticizing the Vikings for putting themselves in such a hard situation.
“Trading your Pro Bowl edge? Cap stress must be real,” one fan said.
“Vikings saying they want to keep Greenard while also taking trade calls is the most transparent cap crisis confession a front office can make and someone is about to steal a Pro Bowl edge rusher at a discount,” another fan said.
“Trading your best pass rusher just because of cap mismanagement is the quickest way to derail a defensive rebuild. The Vikings are literally punishing their best players for the front office’s financial mistakes,” another fan added.
Others assigned blame for the situation, while urging them to keep Greenard on the roster.
“Kwesi has done irreparable damage to this team,” one fan said.
“I think keeping VanGinkel and trading Greenard is a massive mistake,” another fan said.
“This would hurt big time man smh,” another fan said.
Jonathan Greenard could make an impact on multiple teams
Jonathan Greenard, 28, has spent the past two seasons with the Vikings. He’s played 29 games, recording 97 tackles, 15 sacks, five forced fumbles and six passes defended.
He played the first four seasons of his career with the Houston Texans. Several teams should be interested in his services, including the Baltimore Ravens, the San Francisco 49ers and the Cincinnati Bengals, to name a few.
