The Golden State Warriors have been dealing with a growing injury list, with eight players currently featured on the report. While most absences are due to basketball-related issues, Kristaps Porzingis has missed five straight games because of an illness. Steve Kerr addressed the situation on Monday, offering a damning statement.
The Warriors head coach’s remark came after he was questioned on Porzingis’ involvement in the upcoming road trip.
Thanks for the submission!
“It’s a little mysterious,” Kerr said. “We’re obviously working with him and hoping he can get some clarity, and he can break through and get to a point where he is consistently healthy.”

“That’s something the medical staff is working hard on with him, and yeah, I am not going to leave and deposit any medical theories anymore.”
When pressed further about the nature of the illness, Kerr directed the reporter to Warriors director of sports medicine Rick Celebrini for more information, adding to the uncertainty surrounding Porzingis’ condition.
“Whenever Rick Celebrini comes back up here behind the mic you can ask him that,” Kerr added.
Golden State has endured persistent injury setbacks this season, with no player appearing in all 61 games.
With Jimmy Butler ruled out for the season and Stephen Curry sidelined throughout February, Porzingis’ continued absence has only compounded the team’s struggles.
The center has been listed on the injury report with an illness since his debut against the Boston Celtics on Feb. 19. He was initially expected to return after a few games, but has yet to rejoin the lineup, despite being present in the building during Monday’s loss to the Clippers.
As the team prepares for a three-game road trip, Kerr and his staff will be hoping to have him available during the stretch.
Steve Kerr delivers encouraging assessment of Kristaps Porzingis after Warriors debut
Kristaps Porzingis was traded to the Golden State Warriors at the deadline in a deal that sent Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield to the Atlanta Hawks.
However, the center had to delay his debut while recovering from injury before finally making a promising first appearance against his former team, the Boston Celtics, in mid-February.
Stever Kerr reflected on Porzingis’ debut in the postgame conference, providing an encouraging assessment.
“I thought he looked good. It’s never easy coming to a new team, having just one practice and then playing,” Kerr said. “But you can see his talent, his feel for the game, his ability to space the floor and protect the rim. So, it’s good to have him on our team.”
Porzingis appeared for a 17-minute cameo during the game, scoring 12 points, while hooting 55.5% from the field.
