Scouts sent: West Ham now fearing Leeds hijack as 49ers launch into race to sign 24-goal star

West Ham United are now facing the prospect of missing out on a 24-goal star to Premier League rivals Leeds United this summer.

Nuno admits Fulham win was a “special” night

West Ham United are doing everything they can to avoid the drop and after defeating Fulham on Wednesday, the Hammers are now only outside the relegation zone on goal difference.

If results go their way next weekend, then Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side could find themselves on their way to safety with just eight games to play. And what makes that even better is that it could be Tottenham Hotspur who suffer catastrophic consequences as a result.

Nuno was understandably delighted with West Ham’s victory over Fulham and told reporters at full-time: “It’s a special night because we did a good game in a tough, tough stadium against a very good team, with a good manager, fantastic players.

We know how hard it is to come here and to achieve a result. That’s what pleases us the most. We don’t measure belief, we always have belief, we always have hope, what we need is improvement. Today was a big, big day for us, but the situation never changed. Nothing has changed. It required a lot more from all of us.”

Leeds have struck gold on £0 signing who’s now worth more than Calvert-Lewin

It’s not just Dominic Calvert-Lewin who’ll go down as an excellent bargain capture at Leeds United.

Survival would come as a major relief for those at the London Stadium, who may well be fearing the ramifications of the Championship both on and off the pitch.

Failure to survive would also allow Leeds United to take full advantage in the race to sign Troy Parrott. According to Sports Boom, West Ham are now fearful that Leeds could hijack their pursuit of the Republic of Ireland striker this summer.

Leeds and West Ham race to sign Troy Parrott

It’s easy to see why Premier League scouts have been dispatched to watch Parrott. He dragged the Republic of Ireland to the World Cup playoffs in the last international break and has since continued to fire on all cylinders of AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands – scoring 24 goals in all competitions this season.

Parrott has already been a “brilliant” transfer once before, according to talent scout Jacek Kulig, and could now be on his way back to the Premier League to come full circle. The former Tottenham Hotspur striker would be perfect for Daniel Farke, too.

The Leeds boss switched to a 3-5-2 formation in the middle of the current campaign and has reaped the rewards ever since. Finding a partner for Calvert-Lewin in that starting two should now be the priority this summer, especially if Parrott is available for a reported £17m.
