“What we doing Howie Roseman” “BYE JALEN CARTER”: NFL fans call out Eagles for making Jordan Davis highest-paid NT in NFL history

The Philadelphia Eagles made a final decision on defensive tackle Jordan Davis’ future on Saturday. Davis joined the team in 2022 as the No. 13 pick out of Georgia. In four seasons, he has become a reliable player for Vic Fangio, which has landed him a major contract extension.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that the NFC East team agreed to a three-year, $78 million extension with Davis, which includes $65 million guaranteed. He now becomes the highest-paid note tackle in NFL history.

Plenty of fans reacted to the news, with many saying $26 million per year was too much for Davis.

The majority of comments said Davis got paid more than he deserved, and somebody said it would affect Jalen Carter’s future with the team.

“BYE JALEN CARTER,” one fan said.

    “Massive overpay,” another fan said.

“This guys a slob…gonna eat his way thru the contract,” another fan said.

Davis has played 64 games during his four-year NFL career. The defensive tackle has recorded 162 tackles, eight sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and 10 passes defended.

He won the Super Bowl with the Eagles in 2024, helping that dominant defense put up a show against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Philadelphia Eagles could trade Jalen Carter after Jordan Davis deal

After the Jordan Davis deal, Jalen Carter’s NFL future might be away from Lincoln Financial Field. On Friday, Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon named Carter a potential trade candidate.

“Micah Parsons seemed to suggest on his Bleacher Report podcast that Carter might have been on the table in trade talks with Dallas last offseason,” Gagnon wrote. “He’s actually coming off a down year, but an otherwise-loaded defensive team could use his trajectory and still-low salary to command one hell of a return.”

Carter’s contract runs through 2027 after the Eagles exercised the fifth-year option. He would make $27.1 that season unless he signs a new deal with Philly or a different team.
