Top AEW star to finally return at Revolution 2026 and confront World Champion? Exploring the possibility

AEW fans are in for an exciting night of action this weekend as the promotion hosts this year’s Revolution pay-per-view on March 15 in Los Angeles, California. Meanwhile, Revolution’s card seems to have come together perfectly, with many of Tony Khan’s top stars like MJF, Hangman Page, Jon Moxley, and Toni Storm featured in major marquee matches. That said, there is a chance that an absent top star could return to confront the AEW World Champion and steal the show.

Revolution 2026 will feature the AEW World Title Texas Deathmatch between reigning champion MJF and challenger Hangman Page. The Wolf of Wrestling and the Cowboy have been two of the biggest stars in the Jacksonville-based promotion since it started, and they have also long been rivals. The matchup is set up so perfectly that the winner could go either way. That said, the one who takes the gold could get the shock of their life, as there’s a chance a popular face could make a return to confront them and stake his claim at the title, and that face is Will Ospreay.

The Aerial Assassin was last seen on AEW programming at Forbidden Door in August 2025. He’s been recovering from a neck injury and subsequent surgery ever since. The former International Champion was expected to return in the first half of this year, and Revolution could be the perfect stage for his return to face either MJF or Hangman, making his World Title ambitions clear. Ospreay, who has never held the championship, further increases the likelihood of this storyline. That said, the scenario is speculative, and time will tell what Tony Khan has planned for the main event of Revolution.

Will Ospreay describes non-AEW wrestling event as one of the greatest nights of his career

Although recovering from his neck surgery and being away from All Elite Wrestling during this time, Will Ospreay has continued working as a producer for his British promotion, Pro-Wrestling: EVE. On March 8, EVE held its Queendom VIII event at the O2 Arena in London. The Aerial Assassin, who left no stone unturned in promoting the event, seemingly reaped the rewards of his efforts, as he described it as one of the greatest nights of his career in a post on X shortly after the event ended.

“Wrestle Queendom 8 was one of the greatest nights of my wrestling career. To have influence from so many promotions; British, Irish, European, Stardom, NJPW, Sendai Girls, Tokyo Joshi Pro & AEW Thank you to all the front of house staff at the 02, EVE Staff & production team,” Ospreay wrote

As of today, there is no concrete update on when Ospreay will return to AEW. That said, fans eagerly await the Aerial Assassin’s comeback.
