Team USA is set to start its 2026 FIBA Women’s World Qualifying Tournament on Wednesday against Senegal. The Americans have not lost an international game since July 10, 2023, at the AmeriCup against Brazil. It should be noted that the team was composed of college basketball stars.
The last time the senior team lost a game was a friendly on July 17, 2021, against Australia. USA’s roster for that matchup featured players like Sue Bird, Breanna Stewart and A’ja Wilson.
This year’s roster features several debutants like Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, Paige Bueckers, Kiki Iriafen, Monique Billings and Rae Burrell. They are expected to earn an easy win over Senegal.

Team USA is the most dominant squad in women’s basketball. They haven’t lost in the Olympics since 1992. They have not suffered a defeat at any World Cup games since 2006 against Russia. It will be hard for Senegal to stop a stacked roster of some of the best young players in the world.
Caitlin Clark is coming off an injury-riddled campaign, so she’ll likely be playing in a limited capacity. Paige Bueckers had a hell of a rookie campaign, while Angel Reese had an improved sophomore year before a back injury forced her out for the rest of the season.
As for Senegal, they have never beaten the United States in all five previous matchups. They have also lost three of their last five games. Their last win was on Aug. 1, 2025, against the Ivory Coast in the FIBA AfroBasket.

Team USA vs. Senegal Prediction
The prediction is a win for the United States, with Chelsea Gray and Jackie Young likely leading the way. They are the senior members of the roster with plenty of international experience.
Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese and Paige Bueckers could also chip in, especially if coach Kara Lawson decides to go young against Senegal.
