After India’s T20 World Cup triumph, all-rounder Hardik Pandya was seen celebrating with his girlfriend, Mahieka Sharma. Pandya was seen wrapped in the tricolour while he indulged in some activity with his girlfriend, for which a complaint has been filed against him.
India won the ICC T20 World Cup for the second time in 2026, after winning it for the first time in 17 years in 2024. Rohit Sharma led the Indian side that won it in Barbados, which broke India’s drought in ICC tournaments, and then Suryakumar Yadav led the younger Indian side that managed to defend it historically in 2026.
India won the first tournament in 2026, which marked the first time a team won it on their home soil. On the other hand, India became the first team to win back-to-back tournaments in the T20 World Cup history. They are now officially the most successful T20 World Cup team with three titles.

Pune advocate lodges a complaint against Hardik Pandya for contempt of the national flag
After the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, Hardik Pandya, the Indian all-rounder, was seen celebrating alongside his girlfriend, Mahieka Sharma. Mahieka was seen kissing Hardik Pandya when the player was wrapped around the tricolour flag.
When all these players represent the nation, they should uphold the integrity of the national flag. An advocate has lodged a complaint with the Pune Police seeking registration of an FIR against the Indian cricketer for having allegedly insulted the national flag.
“The act constitutes an offence under the relevant law, and legal action should be taken. It is the duty of every citizen to respect the dignity of the national flag,” the complaint application from the Shivaji Nagar Police Station stated, as quoted by PTI.
Hardik Pandya’s life struggles ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup
During an interaction with ICC T20 World Cup 2026, he also reflected on the challenges he had faced before the 2024 World Cup. Pandya had just had a huge issue in his life during that World Cup, since he had filed for a divorce from his former wife.
He explained how many things had already impacted his life ahead of the tournament before the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup started. He revealed that then he made up his mind for redemption.
“I wanted to make a dominating comeback. I did that and helped my team win the trophy after 17 years,” Pandya recalled his performance in the tournament that broke India’s long title drought in ICC events.
Hardik then went on to score 144 runs at an average of 48.00 and picked up 11 crucial wickets with an economy of 7.64. His best performance came against South Africa in the final, when he played a cameo with the bat and picked three big wickets with the ball.
Hardik Pandya revealed his real motivation behind the 2026 T20 World Cup triumph
Hardik Pandya, who was part of the two sides in 2024 and 2026, has revealed that this was just the start of India’s dominance and was instead the fulfillment of a promise that he made to himself after the previous win in 2024.
“After the win in Barbados (in the 2024 final against South Africa), I promised myself that whichever tournament I play, I will play to win and I will lift the trophy,” Pandya told Star Sports. He further claimed that the win against New Zealand in Ahmedabad was more of a validation of the promise that he had made to himself in reality.
The 32-year-old veteran Indian all-rounder had a promising run in the tournament as he scored around 250 runs and picked up 9 wickets with the ball. The 32-year-old was one of the four Indian players included in the ICC Team of the 2026 T20 World Cup.
