WWE Superstar Dominik Mysterio recently broke his on-screen heel persona to talk about his match against John Cena. The two locked horns twice in 2025.
Dominik Mysterio received the opportunity of a lifetime last year as he faced John Cena on two occasions; some stars didn’t even get to face The GOAT even once during his retirement tour. On the November 11, 2025 edition of RAW, Cena became a Grand Slam Champion after dethroning Dirty Dom as the WWE Intercontinental Champion. However, Dominik reclaimed the title in their second outing at Survivor Series: WarGames.
Thanks for the submission!
During his recent interview with Brad Gilmore on The Collection, the host asked how Dominik Mysterio felt after facing John Cena in the latter’s final premium live event appearance as an in-ring performer.
The Judgment Day star immediately called it “super surreal.” He also believed that beating Cena in San Diego was insane, referring to it as “a fairytale ending” for him.
“Super, super surreal. Not only was it John Cena’s last PLE, last Survivor Series, it was [also] the first wrestling event ever held at Petco Park in San Diego. Bro, I’m born and raised in San Diego… I lived there. I did a bunch of s**t I shouldn’t have done in downtown San Diego as well… But man, that was just so surreal for me. Walking in, in the city where I’m from, walking out as a double champion, beating John Cena. That s**t’s insane, man. You can’t write it. Stuff like that it just writes itself. It’s like a fairytale ending for me,” he said.

Dominik Mysterio believes he is the greatest of all time after beating WWE legend John Cena
During the WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2025 post-show, Dominik Mysterio noted how John Cena defeated almost everyone during his farewell tour, but The Chain Gang Soldier lost to him.
Mysterio added that he believed by that logic, he should be called the greatest of all time.
“John Cena has beaten absolutely everybody, am I correct? You name them, Cena’s beaten them. Now, I’ve beaten John Cena. By logic, I’ve also beaten everybody. Greatest of all time? You’re looking at him,” Mysterio said.
Dominik Mysterio and the rest of The Judgment Day recently kicked Finn Balor out of the group. Reports suggest that Dirty Dom could face Balor at WWE WrestleMania 42. It will be interesting to see what the Triple H-led creative team has planned for them.
