Lagiacrus is one of the more coveted Leviathans in Monster Hunter Stories 3, and for good reason. It sits at the top of the aquatic food chain, generates electricity through its scales, and stores it in dorsal organs before unleashing it in a discharge capable of electrifying the surrounding ocean. As a 5-star Monstie, it brings Thunder Power with Swim, and its skill kit scales well into the later game.
Getting one takes a bit more work than a standard den raid, but the process is clear once the steps are known. There is also a mutation variant, Ivory Lagiacrus, that opens up once Habitat Restoration reaches a specific rank. Here is everything needed for both Monsties in Monster Hunter Stories 3.
How to get Lagiacrus in Monster Hunter Stories 3
Where to find Lagiacrus eggs

Lagiacrus is an endangered Monstie, meaning its egg does not appear in regular dens until an Invasive Monster is cleared from the area. In this case, an Invasive Plesioth is occupying a cave to the north of Mirror Lake in Azuria. A Monstie with Swim is needed to reach it, so bringing a Plesioth or Royal Ludroth before heading in is the right call.
To force the Invasive Plesioth to retreat, do the following steps:
- Track it carefully by investigating its traces in the area for clues on how to drive it off.
- Land a Fire attack to deal effective damage and pressure it toward retreating.
- When it becomes enraged and begins filling itself with water, break its head. Doing so triggers an immediate retreat without needing to fully deplete its health.
Once the Invasive Plesioth retreats, a den spawns in the area containing the Lagiacrus egg. After that, Habitat Restoration can be used to integrate Lagiacrus into the ecosystem permanently, giving access to its eggs through regular den raiding and opening up dual-element possibilities over time.

Farming more Lagiacrus eggs after the first
Once the initial egg is collected, the best way to get more is to fight a Lagiacrus and push it into retreat. Dealing solid damage and then landing a Paintball once its health is low tends to trigger a retreat, sending it back to a den stocked entirely with Lagiacrus eggs.
Exploring dens near bodies of water in Azuria at night also increases the chances of finding both Lagiacrus and Ivory Lagiacrus eggs.
Lagiacrus skills, weaknesses, resistances, and stats in Monster Hunter Stories 3
Lagiacrus skills as a Monstie
Lagiacrus has three innate skills that unlock as it levels up:
- Thunderous Blast is its Kinship Skill, unlocked at level 1. It targets a single enemy and deals Thunder damage
- Wild Fang is an active single-target skill unlocking at level 30. It deals non-elemental damage and has a high chance of landing a critical hit
- Thunder Aura is a passive skill unlocking at level 50. It grants Attack Up to the user and makes attacks capable of inflicting Paralysis
Lagiacrus elemental weaknesses and resistances
Fire is Lagiacrus’s biggest vulnerability, hitting at double effectiveness and making it the go-to elemental choice in any fight against it. Dragon also connects well and is worth running if Fire is not available. Water is heavily resisted, which makes sense for a creature that lives in it, and Thunder is almost entirely useless, given that Lagiacrus produces and stores electricity naturally. Physical and Ice sit at neutral with no advantage either way.
Status effectiveness against Lagiacrus
Most statuses work against Lagiacrus:
- Effective: Poison, Fireblight, Sleep, Blastblight, Bleed, and Stun all land with standard effectiveness.
- Resistant: Thunderblight does not connect well, consistent with its natural Thunder resistance.

Targetable parts and weapon effectiveness
Lagiacrus has four targetable parts. The three damage types are Slash (Greatsword and Katana), Pierce (Bow), and Blunt (Hammer):
- Main Body: All three weapon types connect effectively
- Head: Only Blunt lands. Slash and Pierce do not register
- Tail: Only Slash works here. Pierce and Blunt miss
- Back: Only Pierce connects. Slash and Blunt do not register
Lagiacrus stat profile
Lagiacrus sits at HP 6, Attack 7, Speed 6, and Defense 6. The elevated Attack makes it one of the harder-hitting 5-star options available, and combined with Thunder Aura’s Paralysis capability at level 50, it becomes a meaningful pressure tool in longer fights.
How to get Ivory Lagiacrus in Monster Hunter Stories 3
Ivory Lagiacrus is a mutation of the standard Lagiacrus, accessible through Habitat Restoration. To unlock it, the Lagiacrus ecosystem rank in Azuria needs to reach Rank A, which can be done by releasing multiple Lagiacruses into the same habitat.

Once Ivory Lagiacrus is available, it can be equipped through the Stables. It is a 6-star rank Thunder Speed type with Power and Technical as its transformation attack types, sitting one rank above the standard Lagiacrus. Its skillset differs from the base version, offering different options for situations that call for them rather than being a straight numerical upgrade.

Ivory Lagiacrus shares the same elemental profile and four targetable parts, with the same weapon effectiveness breakdown as the standard version.
Ivory Lagiacrus stat profile
Ivory Lagiacrus steps up on both HP and Attack compared to the base version. HP rises to 7, and Attack reaches 8, while Speed and Defense remain at 6. The Attack increase is noticeable, and the different skill set gives it genuine utility in scenarios where the standard Lagiacrus’s kit is not the right fit.
