PHOENIX STAR RE-SIGNS AFTER CAREER BEST YEAR
With the Phoenix preparing for a do-or-die semi-final against the Adelaide 36ers, the club has moved quickly to lock in part of its future, re-signing reigning Sixth Man of the Year Angus Glover on a two-year deal.
First reported by CODE Sports, Glover will remain with the Phoenix until the end of the 2027-28 season after what has been a career-best campaign for the 27-year-old.
In 31 appearances, he averaged a career-high 10.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists while shooting 43.1 per cent from the field.
Glover originally signed with the Phoenix ahead of the 2024-25 season after four years with the Sydney Kings, where he won two championships.
Despite his excitement about staying with the club long term, Glover, in an interview with CODE Sports, acknowledged his focus remains firmly on the semi-finals against the 36ers.
“It’s nice to know that my new contract is taken care of, absolutely, but I’m more worried about winning finals games for the club and that’s my sole focus,” he said.
“I feel really comfortable here, with everyone and everything, from the front office to the coaching staff, players and the fans – it’s an awesome place to be.”
Glover is coming off a 10-point performance against the Adelaide 36ers yesterday in a 101-92 win that forced a must-win game three match on Tuesday night in Adelaide.
With their Sixth Man now secured for the next few years, the Phoenix are expected to turn their attention to the futures of head coach Josh King and reigning Defensive Player of the Year John Brown III.
