Roman Reigns has set his sights on CM Punk and his WWE World Heavyweight Championship ahead of WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas.
But that wasn’t always the plan, as the creative had other plans for the Original Tribal Chief.
Thanks for the submission!
Roman Reigns won the Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia and earned himself a world title opportunity in the main event of the Show of Shows.
Many fans were clamoring for a third match between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes, and it seemed like the wheels were already in motion when the two men had an intense face-off at Survivor Series.

However, the American Nightmare lost his title right before the Royal Rumble. Of course, he regained his gold on SmackDown last week, but the proverbial ship had already sailed.
Cody Rhodes is now scheduled to defend his Undisputed WWE Championship against Randy Orton, while Roman Reigns is gearing up to challenge CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Title.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE had discussed a Hell in a Cell Match between the OTC and the QB1 to finish their trilogy at the Grandest Stage of Them All.
In an update, Ibou of Self Made noted that many within WWE believe the third match will never take place, despite recent pitches. Rumor has it that the two men have been kept on separate brands for a reason.
“I tried to tell y’all. The Cody/Roman thing is weird. It’s a silent, unspoken…tension may be strong word, but there’s a distance kept there. Take note of how they avoid sharing brands for too long. Lot of comparing metrics that goes on too. Feels like Bird/Magic pre friendship. There are people in WWE convinced that the third match will never happen, no matter how close it gets from a planning standpoint.”
Apparently, Roman Reigns doesn’t talk much with Triple H or anyone else, for that matter.
“I think the Roman/Cody thing is just what inevitably happens when you have two tippy top guys in what was until recently a very hot promotion. You get competitive distance and both guy believes they’re the reason for business being strong. Re: Punk/Roman, I’d imagine they’re as fine as you could possibly be with Reigns at this stage of the game. He doesn’t really talk to these dudes outside of work, he doesn’t even talk much with Hunter apparently.”
Roman Reigns is set to return to WWE RAW
Roman Reigns will be in San Antonio, Texas, for the upcoming episode of Monday Night RAW.
The Head of the Table and the Best in the World have exchanged heated words to build the hype for their WrestleMania showdown.
During the promo battle, CM Punk flew off the handle and vowed to bury Roman Reigns next to his late father, Sika, at the Showcase of the Immortals.
Will the OTC give the Second City Saint a taste of his own medicine and make things more personal come Monday? Only time will tell.
