    Gautam Gambhir candidly asks about KKR during social event after T20 World Cup 2026 final [Watch]

    Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir recently inquired about Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) pre-season camp for the 2026 edition of the Indian Premier League. The 44-year-old asked a journalist about the training camp at an event in Kolkata on Monday, March 16.

    Gambhir has had a long-standing association with KKR. Under his captaincy, the side clinched the IPL titles in 2012 and 2014. He served as a mentor of the side in their 2024 triumph before taking up the role of the Indian head coach.

    Kolkata are set to open their IPL 2026 campaign against Mumbai Indians (MI) at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 29. A video surfaced on social media showing Gambhir asking the journalist whether KKR’s camp for IPL 2026 had commenced. Watch the clip here:

    Team India secured their second ICC title during Gambhir’s tenure as the head coach. The Suryakumar Yadav-led side won the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2026. They became the first men’s team to successfully defend their title. India previously won the Champions Trophy in 2025 with Gambhir as head coach.

    KKR unveil their official jersey for IPL 2026

    KKR recently revealed their team jersey for the upcoming IPL 2026. The three-time champions continued the purple and gold color theme. The franchise posted a special video on social media to showcase the new kit.

    Kolkata captioned the post:

    “Every thread carries a story. Every line carries a legacy. Here’s our TATA IPL 2026 jersey.”

    Kolkata endured a disappointing campaign in IPL 2025. The defending champions of the season failed to qualify for the playoffs, finishing eighth in the points table with five wins and seven losses. Two of their league matches ended in a no result due to rain.

    They roped in some big names at the IPL 2026 mini-auction. They went all out for Australian all-rounder Cameron Green, signing him at a whopping ₹25.20 crore. The deal made the 26-year-old the most expensive player in IPL auction history. Some of their other signings included Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana (₹18 crore) and Indian batter Rahul Tripathi (₹75 lakh).
