Over the past year, many fans have criticized the overpriced ticket pricing of WWE. Meanwhile, AEW has shone as a promotion that provides wrestling entertainment at a much lower price, which makes it affordable for families. Recently, a top AEW star talked about this ticket pricing controversy while taking a shot at the Stamford-based promotion.
AEW star MVP recently gave his thoughts on why affordable ticket pricing is necessary in the world of pro-wrestling. This topic has come to light over the past year due to how much WWE has increased the rates for shows like WrestleMania and SummerSlam, which makes it difficult for wrestling fans to actually go and enjoy the show. Due to that, many people now believe that these big shows are only meant for celebrities to enjoy live in attendance.
Speaking on the Battleground Podcast, MVP said that he is happy that Tony Khan is doing a good job in managing the price of ticket sales. He aimed at WWE by calling their tickets overpriced for what they actually offer. The former United States Champion also said that companies like WWE need to accept that they are charging fans too much for tickets.
“You know, right now in our country, we have a problem with affordability across the board. I don’t care what your political affiliation is. It’s tough, and whatever your wrestling affiliation is, you have to admit that there are some companies that are charging more than the average wrestling fan can afford to go and see some good, live wrestling. AEW, affordability matters and we love the fact that Tony Khan has set up a company where we get down to wrestling. It’s where the best go to wrestle, and a father of two or three, a family of four can go to an AEW show and have a great time,” said MVP. [H/T: Fightful]
With that said, Tony Khan has been getting a lot of praises by the fans for his recent steps in keeping pro-wrestling affordable while giving some great action for the fans. It will be interesting to see how things will unfold for All Elite Wrestling from here on with that approach.
WWE lowers WrestleMania 42 ticket prices after low sales
WrestleMania is the biggest pro-wrestling event of the year, and fans have significant hype for it. There was once a time when the tickets for The Grandest Stage of Them All used to sell out absolutely. However, this year, the company is failing to sell the tickets for The Show of Shows in Las Vegas.
Therefore, on WWE’s 3:16 Day, the company decided to lower the ticket prices by 31.6% as a discount. This was a marketing tactic that completely reflected that the Stamford-based promotion knows that they are in a severe problem, as fans are skipping shows like WrestleMania due to high prices.
Moreover, Elimination Chamber in Chicago also failed to sell out the arena, which was a massive hit for the management after some of the best years of revenue. Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see how this decision will impact the tickets for WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas.
