Patrick Mahomes' injury hasn't stopped him from enjoying a vacation with Brittany and their kids: Where did they go?

While the NFL world focuses on a shifting roster in Kansas City, Patrick and Brittany Mahomes have found a moment of stillness in a tropical paradise.

On Wednesday, Brittany shared a comprehensive “photo dump” on Instagram, documenting a sunny retreat with the couple’s three children: five-year-old Sterling, three-year-old Bronze, and their one-year-old daughter, Golden Raye.

The images capture a relaxed side of the three-time Super Bowl MVP, showing him walking along the shoreline with his children and posing for a glamorous poolside evening with Brittany.

Joining the family on the trip were close friends Miranda and Summitt Hogue, the latter being a longtime friend of Patrick’s from their school days in Texas.

The vacation serves as a brief but necessary mental reset for Patrick, whose offseason has been dominated by a grueling recovery schedule.

The quarterback’s 2025 season came to a heartbreaking end on December 14 during a Week 15 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, where he suffered a torn ACL and LCL in his left knee.

Chiefs acquire Justin Fields as insurance

The timing of this family getaway coincides with major moves by the Chiefs’ front office to protect the team’s 2026 outlook. Earlier this week, the organization finalized a trade with the New York Jets to acquire former first-round pick Justin Fields in exchange for a 2027 sixth-round selection.

While Mahomes has stated his goal is to be back for the 2026 season opener with “no restrictions,” the acquisition of Fields provides a high-upside insurance policy should the nine-month ACL recovery timeline face any setbacks.

Fields is expected to take the majority of first-team reps during upcoming Organized Team Activities (OTAs) while Mahomes continues his specialized strengthening program.

Evidence of Mahomes’ progress has been visible even before this week’s tropical excursion. Just seven days ago, the quarterback was spotted moving comfortably while attending the Big 12 tournament in Kansas City to watch top basketball prospect AJ Dybantsa.

Observers noted he was walking without the aid of crutches or a visible brace, a sign that supports NFL insider Jay Glazer’s report that Mahomes is currently “ahead of schedule.” By undergoing surgery immediately before the knee could swell, Mahomes was able to begin range-of-motion exercises within days of the procedure.
