The Carbon Experts at Reynolds Introduce a Full Lineup of Alloy Wheels for Off-Road Riding

Reynolds is well known for its carbon rims and wheelsets, but now, the brand is switching up materials with the launch of its alloy range. This new alloy lineup spans the off-road disciplines from gravel to downhill, and everything in between. With it, the brand says it aims to bring the “same precision, purpose, and performance-driven philosophy that define Reynolds’ carbon range” to its aluminum counterparts.

In doing so, Reynolds aims to prove that it isn’t defined by its carbon expertise, and even created its own hashtag: #MoreThanAMedium. Reynolds says, “From the 6th element (carbon) to the 13th (aluminum), the new Reynolds range reaffirms a truth the brand has lived since its inception: the wheel is not defined by what it’s made of, but by how its made.”

    Reynolds Alloy Collection

Reynolds’ new Alloy collection covers five genres of off-road riding, with purpose-built rims and wheels to suit their intended use. Reynolds tells us that each new wheel has been designed with its RTV (Reynolds Terrain Versatility) philosophy, “that defines how we engineer wheels for every discipline without compromise.” The collection includes gravel, XC, trail, enduro, and downhill rims, with some categories featuring multiple spec levels to suit varying needs, preferences, and budgets. Let’s check them out.

    Reynolds Gravel Aluminum

Reynolds says the G30 Expert Gravel Wheelset was developed to “create an aluminum wheel that embodies the smooth, responsive, and efficient ride of Reynolds carbon, while delivering everyday durability and ease of ownership.” The 700c rims are made with a geometry and construction that promote versatility and comfort for long days in the saddle.

The double-wall, welded-joint aluminum rims have a 30mm external and 26mm internal width, a hooked bead, and a tubeless-ready channel that’s designed to work with modern high-volume gravel and MTB tires between 40mm and 56mm. The shallow, 17mm rim depth is meant to provide a compliant ride for comfort and control. The Ringlé SRX hubs use 3-pawls on a 30-tooth ratchet for 12-degree engagement, and were developed with Reynolds’ ULD (Ultra Low Drag) approach for maximum efficiency.

    G30 Gravel Expert Specs

    • Wheel size: 700c

    Reynolds XC Aluminum

Reynolds says the new A309 XC series was “born from the carbon benchmark” with the same design philosophy applied to 6069 aluminum. The result is an XC wheel that mirrors the crisp, confident ride of its carbon counterpart while delivering the dependability and value of alloy. With a 30mm internal width, a hooked bead, and a tubeless-ready channel, the A309 XC rims are optimized for modern XC tire widths.

The A309 XC wheels come in two spec levels, with the primary difference being the hubs. The Pro is built around Ringle Super Bubba hubs with quick, 4-degree engagement. The Expert is built with Ringle SRX hubs with 12-degree engagement.

    Reynolds Trail Aluminum

Reynolds says the new A327 and A329 wheels were engineered from the ground up to meet the demands of modern trail riding. They feature a completely new rim design with a wider-than-average 32mm internal width, which they say is intended to optimize the tire-to-rim interface. Reynolds claims the added width provides “a broader, stronger base for aggressive cornering and high-volume tire support, while reinforced sidewalls resist dents and pinch flats when the trail turns technical.” And the low-profile of the 6069 aluminum rim maintains compliance and comfort over the chatter.

Like the XC wheels described above, the Trail Alloy wheels come in two aftermarket spec levels, as well as an OEM-only Comp version. The Trail Pro comes with Ringlé Super Bubba X hubs with 4-degree engagement and gets premium waterslide graphics. The Trail Expert uses the Ringlé SRX hubs with 12-degrees between engagement points.

    Reynolds Enduro Aluminum

The new A307 and A309 Enduro wheels were built to withstand the abuse of longer travel bikes and enduro-style terrain. Reynolds says they “were conceived with a clear objective: deliver gravity-ready strength while preserving the efficiency required for all-day riding.” The 6069 aluminum rims have a precision-welded joint for impact resistance and durability, with a 30mm internal width that’s standard for the category.

According to Reynolds, the Enduro Aluminum wheels are “designed for aggressive enduro lines and the added torque of e-MTB riding, they provide a composed, predictable feel when speeds rise, and impacts become unavoidable.” The A307 and A309 Enduro wheels come in the same Pro and Expert spec levels as the other mountain bike wheels. The Pro wheels come with the Ringlé Super Bubba X hubs with 4-degree engagement, and the Expert wheels are built around the Ringlé SRX hubs with 12-degree pickup.

    Reynolds Downhill Aluminum:

According to Reynolds, “the A307 and A309 Downhill wheels were designed with a singular focus: maximum strength, stability, and reliability under extreme load.” The 6069 aluminum rims have a precision-welded joint for “structural consistency and durability,” along with a bump up to 32 spoke counts for added strength. The 30mm internal width pairs with modern gravity tire widths and casings, and they come in both 27.5” and 29” diameters to suit rider needs and preferences.

The A307 and A309 DH come in a Pro build only, featuring the Ringlé Bubba hub equipped with Reynolds’ proprietary CLOCK’D adjustable engagement system. This unique dual-ring design allows riders to choose between 4- and 8-degree engagement angles to suit their needs and preferences.
