BCB to Seek Government Clearance for Players

Early signs point to tension across borders shaping up yet again. This round involves Bangladesh’s cricket leadership feeling the ripple. Not far off, February gives way to March. By the 26th, lights come on for the tenth go-around of a league rooted in Pakistan. Players ready up while politics hums in the background.

With the tournament just days away, doubts have crept up about whether Bangladeshi players will take part – security issues are giving pause. Still, before those worries surfaced, several had already received clearance: Mustafizur Rahman, Parvez Hossain Emon from Lahore Qalandars stepped forward under official permission from BCB. Then came Shoriful Islam, alongside Nahid Rana, plus Tanzid Hasan Tamim wearing Peshawar Zalmi colors – all cleared earlier. Even Rishad Hossain, tied to the same team, got his nod without delay

Now the board insists on waiting for government permission before allowing players to go to Pakistan for the PSL. Should that green light come through, the team won’t be at the training camp ahead of the white-ball games versus New Zealand.

Facing the moment, Nazmul Abedin shared how he saw things unfold

Now speaking up, BCB cricket operations chief Nazmul Abedin said officials plan to ask the government for permission – something usually skipped in regular cases.

“Of course, we will seek permission from the government before sending our cricketers for the PSL. Under normal circumstances, these things are not required. We provide clearance, they go, play, and return. But since the situation is not normal and there is a risk element concerning the players, obviously we will discuss it with the government,” BCB cricket operations chairman Nazmul Abedin told Cricbuzz.

“We will seek to know from the government whether it will be safe to travel or not, and based on that government decision, we will have to take the ultimate call on whether the players will go or not,” he added.
