A few days ago, San Francisco’s Mission Workshop launched a new messenger bag with the Manifest: X51. This seemingly bombproof messenger bag targets daily commuters who need durable, reliable gear and weather protection during their daily travels.
The Manifest is constructed using X-Pac’s high-quality laminates. These include a combination of an X51 outer shell with a VX21 liner to keep your cargo dry in wet conditions while maintaining durability for regular use. This helps the bag withstand the abuse that daily wear from commuting by bike, on foot, or on public transit can cause.
The bag’s carry system focuses on ease of use, comfort, and stability during movement. While it is a sizeable messenger-style bag, it appears designed to be carried in a cross-body orientation, diagonally across the back.
The Manifest sports a proprietary quick-adjust shoulder strap system with durable aluminum hardware, which allows users to fine-tune the fit with microadjustments on the fly while wearing the bag. These are secure while also making one-handed access to the bag’s contents quick and easy. This is especially important when you need to access your gear while the other hand is occupied with a bike, coffee, or anything else you might need to hold.
The Manifest has a total storage capacity of 27 liters, with a layout that includes a large main compartment and a zippered front pocket sized for tablets and electronics. There are also two external pockets under a velcro flap for the items you need to access more quickly. Additionally, there are four internal zippered sections for securing smaller essentials and keeping things orderly.
