Tyler Reddick speechless after equaling Dale Earnhardt and Bill Elliott’s record with Darlington win

Tyler Reddick won at Darlington from the pole last Sunday and tied with Dale Earnhardt and Bill Elliott’s record for winning the first four of six NASCAR Cup Series races.

Earnhardt first reached four wins in the opening six races back in 1987, and Elliott matched that mark in 1992. Now, more than 30 years later, Reddick has joined that exclusive list. His 2026 season started with a historic three consecutive wins at Daytona, Atlanta, and the Circuit of the Americas, and he has now taken a 95-point advantage over the second-place competitor in the points standings.

Even with battery and cooling system issues, Reddick stayed calm, and his crew made the right calls. With around 50 laps to go, he chased down race leader Brad Keselowski and pitted two laps later to put on fresher tires and took the lead on Lap 266.

During the latest episode of the Sirius XM NASCAR Radio, the 30-year-old has a hard time finding words on what it meant to match Earnhardt and Elliot’s record.

“It’s hard to find words. I mean, the statement speaks for itself. It’s incredible. I’m just really proud of our team to be able to put these races together like we have. And again, I mean, on our off days, we found ways to be battling for top 10. So just really proud of where it seemslike our ceiling is at currently, and even more so, honestly, our floor,” Tyler Reddick said.

Reddick won the race by 5.847 seconds after leading 77 laps.

“Maybe I can figure out Martinsville too” – Tyler Reddick after his dominant start to the season

Tyler Reddick looks to carry his momentum this weekend at Martinsville, which is one of the tracks he has not been great at. During the same episode, he recalled his struggles, but he said that his floor this season has been inside or just outside the top 10.

“Based off the two races we didn’t win, our floor is somewhere just in or outside the top 10. … I’m feeling good going into Martinsville, but I haven’t been great there. I don’t know what it’ll turn into this weekend, but I’m definitely excited to get to Martinsville. If I’ve been able to figure out some of these other places, maybe I can figure out Martinsville too,” Tyler Reddick said.

Reddick’s best finish at Martinsville was seventh place, which came in the spring of 2024. His average finish since 2023 at the 0.526-mile oval is 19, ranking him 17th place among active NASCAR Cup drivers.
